Can we get a bit of an update to the Movies' Hot | Trending | Upcoming lists?

Basically, I like to use this site to find new movies and TV shows I haven't heard about, so I will occasionally peak into those lists, which are great fun.
BUT, there are for example ~820 movies in the Trending list for the last 24h alone, and that just means I'll look at a few pages at most, find mostly stuff I'm not interested in at the moment, X those out, add maybe 1-2 movies to my list, and not check again for weeks or months.
Ideally, I'd like to be somehow able to filter down the lists. The Trending list, particularly, has no filters at all.

For example, let me choose only to see movies from 2024 with a drop-down, or let me choose to exclude for example all Horror movies by checking it off a list. Obviously all genres would be default checked off for everyone, but a a check-able list with an All/None button at the top would help immensely. That would limit the list down to something manageable, and I'd be much more inclined to use the tool to browse for new things.
You already have all that info visible in the lists anyway, so adding an exclusion filter shouldn't be too difficult from a database standpoint.
Oh, and for myself I mean an exclusion list, not an inclusion list. So If I choose to (for example) not see any movie that has the Horror genre, I will not see a movie that's got "Action, Fantasy, Horror" or "Comedy, Horror" genres for example.
But I suppose some people might prefer an inclusion list, so if they choose "Horror" then they would see all the movies that have Horror as one of the genres, even if they're not interested in some of the other genres attached to the movie. But in my mind, exclusion gives me more control with less data.

This may require a bit of work, but for non-English titles, is there somewhere you could add the original language title too.  Maybe just on the main show page only.

Additionally, could we have an option within settings > search engines to use this original title.

Arni, indeed the Movies section and the discovery charts can use some new features, but I don't know if I'll be able to get to that anytime soon.

Wizard - I'm yet to figure where and how to display the alternative titles we have in the database (sometimes it's the original title, sometimes the English title is the alternative one).

Which are the languages would you block?

I'm asking just so I figure out if there is maybe a potential for a new aggregate filter (similar to "hide anime shows") that may help in these cases.

Personally, I think you'll have a hard time creating a set of aggregate filters that make meaningful sense, mostly because it's very difficult to know where to draw a line. smile

All Asian languages? Very broad.
South, South East, East, West, Central Asias split? Doable but who knows what which means?
Americas? Central & South Americas? All the Spanish languages across the continents? Europe? Scandinavia? Balkans? And so on and so forth.

Personally I'm only interested in a very narrow band of languages, and I would love to be rid of the rest to clean up the experience, but I have a hard time seeing a filter system that wouldn't take one of them out while taking out everything I don't want. hmm

Maybe instead of filtering out, one could set preferred languages? Just use the accepted language codes found on subtitle sites or similar (EN, FR, etc.)?

Thai and Chinese, those countries produce a lot of shows but so far I haven't liked any that I have tried watching.

Ah I see. And I see there's a seperate tab for watched series as well. I like the old school aesthetics of this website. Very much appreciated. Maybe it would be a possibility to draw a sort of colored box around some of the texts? Like the Watched/Time Spent texts en the top texts where the Forums, Episodes and Movies are located. In my opinion would make them feel more distinctive and would be a nice QOL.

Edit, at least for Android. On PC the tabs seem distinctive enough

@Santa, how are the Cast lists ordered?  Can we apply some ordering to them?

I was looking at https://next-episode.net/money-game-2023 and thought it was funny that the characters are all numbered and it wasn't in any sort of order.  smile

We keep the order as it comes from TVMaze (as normally it's by actors prominence in the series).

May we have the ability to add tags to shows that have not yet been released, please? Tagging and filtering are very personal choices and have really helped me keep track of what I want.
