That looks great, thanks.

Because you can't please all the people, all the time, could you make it so that it's only done for 3 or more episodes.?
Some shows release double episodes and it would be nice to see those

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Yeah, I was wondering if I should do it this way.

It's done now - it'll show up to 3 episodes before it merges them in one row.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

I know it's been floated before, but it would be awesome if the shows were alphabetized without any articles at the front (ie, Flash, The rather than The Flash).

Well, its certainly not going to happen if it people stop bringing it up! Also... WHY is this not something being added?

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Another thing that has probably been brought up before, but would (probably) take much more work: "top lists" a-la those on icheckmovies.com. There is obviously a huge difference for completion in tv vs. movies, as it isn't a simple have watched or haven't watched, but being able to look at best of lists for genres, years/decades, countries, etc., directly on the site would be awesome.

Sorry to be a grinch but anyway of turning off 'the snow'?
Just makes a shuddering navigation bar appear at the bottom of the screen (on chrome/desktop anyway) whose flashing triggers my head/eyes.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Elphine, add the following to your script blocker, assuming you are using one.  I use uBlock Origin on Chrome.

||next-episode.net/js/ajax/snowstorm.js$script,first-party

That doesn't seem to do anything for me but blocking java site wide (once logged in) does, without any other ramifications so far.... so thanks for response/help.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

I think I fixed the flashing of the bottom bar in Chrome.

CTRL+F5 and is it fixed for you Elphie?

I will still offer you a way to completely disable the snow if you want - but for now - is the glitch fixed?

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

I apologize if this was already addressed somewhere in this thread. I had sent an email suggestion about adding a feature to "hide" episodes so they were removed from your list of episodes to watch but NOT added to your totals for what you've actually watched. It's helpful for shows like SNL where you didn't watch it for the first 20 years or the terrible second season of True Detective (etc etc) and never plan to watch that content, but would like to continue with the show without it sitting in your "to watch" list.

You (I assume it was you) replied at the time and said it was a good idea but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere since. Is this still in the works? Literally the only thing I could complain about with the site by the way, great work!

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

This is an epic annoyance, imo. I would set this to 3-5 seconds. Or if you are concerned that somebody will use this to DDoS, then after 5th search start increasing this delay with Fibonacci numbers.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

In the single show view (ex. https://next-episode.net/get-shorty) I would use the "Report" feature. That also would help you to reduce the time required to maintain the information. It could be similar, but better than TMDb Report feature.

How I imagine it could function:

* Click Report button
* Some lightbox popup opens where you can choose what you want to report, for example:

  • Genre

  • Runtime

  • Status

  • Forum url

  • TVMaze url

  • IMDb url

  • TheTVDB url

  • Trailer url

  • etc.

* Form opens with table, that shows the current value of the field you chose and and input for a new value
* Data is submitted for a review
* In backoffice you simply click Approve/Decline
* Trigger a notification for the user who submitted

P.S. You can skip all other fields, I need just the Forum url field big_smile

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

And also the linked forums could have a link to the show somewhere in the header, for example:

https://prnt.sc/m3qjeg

Plus forum url could be both forum or a single topic.

Yeah...I've asked for something similar, too. :\

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

@g371 - thanks for the suggestions. Also updated the search wait interval to 5 seconds. You can always suggest updates, including forum links at the contact us link. Maybe one day I'll make a proper issue reporting tool as you suggested, but for the volume of reports we get right now - the contact us link is enough ..

That's because people are lazy and contact us form is a few extra steps smile

You can also make a quick and dirty version for the forum urls on show pages, just select forum title in db and if there is no result, then select topic titles desc last post timestamp limit 1 and cache that for a month in redis smile And the same from the forum topic header - I assume you have a table with clean show titles without years - you just would need to regenerate a smaller show thumbnails. Actually this last part I would say has more value and is 2h work max. These small usability things are why we are using this site.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Unfortunately, as the forum is a separate system that gets updated from time to time, it's really tough - nearly impossible to integrate the way you want it (the integration would break with each forum software update).

If we're missing forum links on show pages though - let me know and I'll fix that right away!
