I had my hopes set really high on Moffat, c'mon Blink, Empty Child, those things were BRILLIANT. The fact that he's not gay and has kids may be affecting a bit the tone. RTDavies would miss on plot and some on character development to put forward his non-discriminatory policy and propaganda (not a bad one, I might add, as I think all prejudices are inherently bad, but once again, I digress).
To those complaining about the plot of Ep7 though, I must disagree, or, rather, say, you missed the point. The plot here was for the kids to go "Oooo, scary old people" and the adults to be able to concentrate on character development and insight. The fact that the episode explores the fact that the Doctor actually carries a lot of self-loathing is inebriating. Suddently all the fanfarre and menace is put into perspective (and reminds us of the Conan Doyle references used to cook up our favorite Timelord in the original First Doctor concept), plus we see Emily_amy step out of her sexually misguided Wendy fantasy (FINALLY). NOW WE CAN CONCENTRATE ON PLOT. Let's just hope they find a tone that is less "kid friendly wannabe"and more trusting of the audience's intelligence.
I am loving MAtt as the Doctor, btw, but I wish it would be someone older, I would certainly cast a thirty-many, forty-a-bit ... or Philip Glenister.
