Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?
I'd like to be able to mark episodes as watched from the recent tab. Most of what I watch is from the current week, so I wouldn't have to search for the show on the Stuff to watch tab…

Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?First off, thanks so much for the app, its great. Here's one problem that I'm having. When I look at a show in the What's Next section (in this case, 24), it shows that the next episode (zing!) is in 6 days: But when I go into the show details it shows the countdown as 1657 months and 6 days. It is like that for every show, 1657 months and X days. Any ideas? Thanks! Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Works fine for me, even with 24… is the date on your device set correctly? “Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a diseased mind.” – Rincewind
Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests? Its set automatically via AT&T. The calendar reads today's date, all calendar entries and reminders are correct. No other date problems with the device. Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests? Thanks for reporting this. It should be fixed now, can you please check? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Whatever you did, its fixed. Thanks. Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Sure Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Nice app! Thx, Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests? Is there any news yet on when we'll see an update that will allow you to hide shows you have selected to "stop tracking"? Also, how about adding a "watched" button in the show description, so in case you accidentally "fat finger" your swipe to mark the show as watched, and it loads the description, you don't have to go back and try it again. Sometimes it takes a couple attempts to slide it just right. A friend of mine was looking over the app on my phone and suggested adding an edit button for selecting multiple shows as being watched. I'm not sure if he meant multiple episodes from a particular season (eg: watching several episodes of one show at a time) or he meant individual shows (eg: selecting multiple different shows that you watched after the fact like NBC's Thursday night lineup). Either way, it does seem like a good idea. Especially if you have 7 shows that air on Monday night like I do. Also, I've noticed a lot of people complaining about the hints, which I did notice was quite a bit, but they only showed up once per section, and after that they never came back. I think the hints are fine just the way they are, they did help out a few things, plus after you've seen that particular one, it's gone. Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests? If you compare the time you need to watch seven shows and the time you need to swipe and tip seven times I hardly think a multi episode mark off would be an improvement at all. The hints are very useful but always tend to annoy the pros A selective help feature would serve the purpose much better since you get the info when you want it and are ready for it. You often don't read the hint and tap it and after a while you wonder how a feature works. The only way to get the hint again is to reset all hints which is extremely annoying for the second time. When you have to do it a third time you are pissed. So - santah - please improve/change it, so less people are annoyed and more people buy it, which would mean more money for you Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Great App! I am having trouble with the episode to watch however. When there is only one episode to watch swiping it seems to work ok and it is marked as watched. If I have a few though - lets say 3 in one season.. I go into the individual epsode, swipe it to mark as watched.. then there doesn't seem to be any option to save it somehow.. next time I look its still marked as not watched. Similarly if I want to mark two of the three as watched it only lets me do one and unsets the other one.. What am I doing wrong? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?iccoffee wrote:
Will look into this and get back to you! Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?iccoffee wrote:
Tested this and the removal should be working and "saving" in all cases. Can you please let me know of the particular show/season/episodes that you encounter that bug? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?santah wrote:
I've already marked the episodes I was watching as watched on the main web site, but it seems to be occurring with all my shows. As example in my account at the moment I have season 1 flashforward with 12 episodes to watch. I go into "stuff to watch" on the iPhone and Press Flashforward. The secreen displays with all the episodes. I swipe the first episode. It marks as watched. I then try and swipe episode 2 and its marked as watched, but the watched tag disappears in episode 1. Thinking I can only do one at a time I reswipe episode 1 (episode 2 watched disappears), and I select the back (stuff to watch) button. The flashforward episode list then still shows 12 episodes. If I click it again it reloads the episodes list and sure enough.. episode 1 is not marked as watched anymore.. Very frustrating.. Having said that it seems to work ok if I only have one episode in a season to watch.. at least it did for the one case that I did that. Still a great app though.. I've been on this site about 3 years (though not on forums! ;-), and to my mind this just complements the web site so much its fabulous! Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?iccoffee wrote:
Sigh... DAMN I'm dumb.. Swipe.. get the Watched message.. then TAP THE WATCHED MESSAGE to "submit it".. then it all works.. what can I say.. Its been a bad couple of days.. my mum dropped me on my head as a baby.. genetically I don't come from the smartest line of people.. :-) My Bad.. please ignore me and my stupid posts.. Great App Santah.. shame you can't make it idiot proof! :-) Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Hello, I'm new here. I've been on the site a little while, and was very happy to hear about the iPhone app coming (bought it as soon as it was available). Overall I'm happy with it, but my main disappointment is with the calendar view. I would really like the ability to see shows more than one day in the past... sorted by date rather than by show as is currently available in the Stuff to Watch section. A calendar view similar to the one on the site would be ideal. My second choice would be a list view like what you have now, but the ability to scroll up to see dates in the past (at least one week). Sometimes I get a little behind, and it's nice to see what I've missed in the past week or so. Thanks for the great site and app! Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?I finally bought the app today... I had a shortcut to next-episode.net on my home screen until now and that view is exactly what I'm missing in the iphone app. I mostly use the "recent" feature to check which shows aired today/yesterday and while the current view looks very nice with the images (slightly wrong aspect ratio btw) I would love to see a one-line-for-each-show list view like the one on the homepage with my favorites on top (bold) and all other shows after that. Otherwise: Great app for a great website!!! Btw: Just noticed that if I change the setting ("My shows only") in the app, the website will also only show my favorites. I hope that's a bug because I do want to see all shows on the website. Btw2: Out of curiosity, how many people have already downloaded the app? (np if you don't want to share that number ) Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?DieBagger wrote:
Change it again on the site (it won't affect the app setting) And about how many people - not that many, why? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?santah wrote:
That worked, thx! santah wrote:
Well mostly just curiosity... I'm a developer (mostly mobile stuff) and have a few friends working on iphone apps, so I'm trying to get a feeling of how big a market there really is for apps (putting the hype of a few self-made appstore millionaires aside ). Honestly I would have thought that with such a large userbase to begin with you'd sell your app like crazy. 46 2010-05-02 16:06:56 (edited by backslashio 2010-05-02 16:07:43)Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Any plan to give support to aussie tv shows? I really would like to buy this app but it seems to be focused on US shows only. Would giving you a list of popular aussie shows help? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests? You can request any show to be added to the site and the app as long, as it's on tv.com. Use http://next-episode.net/submit to request it Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Cheers, Is Seven, Nine & Ten the aussie channels? I thought it might be in brackets like your ABC. Also it's missing digital channels 'GO!' & there's repeat channels of '7Two' & 'ABC2' although I'm not sure if you could add them. 'GO!' has a lot of american shows (in fact I think its all american shows) so it should be pretty easy to manage) If a show says its ended on tv.com even though its still running atm (like 'Hey Hey Its Saturday' & 'Thank God You're Here') does that mean you can't do it? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?I have two shows that I have it set to Stop Tracking: Grey's Anatomy & Parenthood. The Stop Tracking feature was enabled for Grey's before I linked my N-E account to my iphone. And it doesn't show up in Stuff To Watch on the site or app. Then I enabled Stop Tracking for Parenthood sometime after linking my iPhone. It doesn't show up on the site, but it does show up in the app. I see some talk about adding a Stop Tracking feature to the app, is this a "known bug" (or maybe not a bug, just "known")? Re: Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests?Yea, stop tracking is still not available on the app. Posts: 26 to 50 of 193Forums - Next Episode → Mobile Apps → Criticism, comments, suggestions, requests? |
