Topic: What is your upload ratio?
By popular demand (and me having no clue what poll to post) - here's the what's your ratio question Generally, my ratio hovers around 1:1. Yours? In other news, anyone wants to take charge of the polls for a while?

Re: What is your upload ratio?
I don't have a ratio anymore, I have moved on to better things, to Usenet. It's great, you should try it out if you haven't! Anyway, on the only private tracker I was active on before, my ratio was about 12.8, what can I say, sharing is caring. ^_^

Re: What is your upload ratio?
It depends on the site and files I am downloading. But generally about 1:1

i mostly remove after downloading, so ratio is pretty low. unless some bad torrent ain't coming down and only going up.

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing.. It's kind of confusing.. I would see it as ">1:2" means like 1:3 or 1:4 since less than one to 2 is eqivalent to something like 0.5:4 which could be easier understood as 1:3 or 1:4.. Or am I missing something?

Depends on a site... on my two favorite trackers 4.0 and 4.9.

Re: What is your upload ratio?
dunno man, I just copy/pasted the poll from the poll suggestion thread, I thought it was confusing myself, but I posted it anyway the way I understand it, you just ignore the 1: (which stands for the download part of the ratio), so that the question is: what's your upload ratio? and the answers: >2,2,1.5,1, <1, where 2 means 2 bytes uploaded for every byte downloaded

Re: What is your upload ratio?
Like this: In 1:1, the first 1 is constant... there will always be a one there... the second 1 signifies that you have uploaded the same as you've downloaded. If the second 1 is actually 1,5 it would mean that you have uploaded 1,5 times as much as you've downloaded, and so on. And stop trolling Niv!

i like where that numbering is heading!

That's why you never post them exactly as they're suggested - you fiddle with them, and rewrite them until they're practically unrecognisable!!!

Re: What is your upload ratio?
I would have a higher ratio if not for my limited internet for the moment but usually its about 1:2. Right now i cant handle that. So 1:1 or 1:09.

Re: What is your upload ratio?
well.... on most of the trackers I'm on, the ratio is calculated Upload/Download = Ratio For Example: Upload: 20.95 GB / Download: 15.81 GB = Ratio: 1.325 I usually try and keep my ratio above 1.3 Hope I could help solve the confusion

Re: What is your upload ratio?
For example in the ratio 1:2, 1 will always be how much you download vs. the 2 which is how much you upload. In the ratio 1:2, say for every 1 byte you download, you upload 2. To get your ratio, get the amount that you downloaded and the amount that you uploaded and divide the upload amount by the download amount. Ex: -DL:162.7 GB -UL:215.9 GB -215.9/162.7 -215.9/162.7=1.32698218 Therefore, my ratio is 1:1.32698218 Rounded off to the nearest tenth, 1:1.3 which means for every 1 byte I download, I upload 1.3 bytes in return. tl;dr Mines 1:1.3

this is what i mean, upload is the dividend, therefore the upload ratio must be described as upload:download and when you compare ratios, it's.. lets suppose your ratio is 5, which gives 5:1 > 2:1, the top option was >1:2 which is confusing since 1:1 also is >(1:2) if you want to flip the divisor and the dividend, you must say that your ratio^-1 equals 5 (in this case) qed
Niv is right. This is backwards, and not just in a nit-picky "gotcha" kind of way, but in a confusing nonsensical way.
