Yeah, I had the same reaction. I thought both twists (Kalinda not being the target of the Grand Jury and how she thanked the person for changing her name were great.

Best character developed judges on TV. And Micheal J. Fox as regular in S03? Oh I hope so.

Honestly I miss some of the other funny judges - the black judge with "now you have two days, would you like to try for one?" for example. But I agree, making the judges recurring characters and giving them personalities is a fantastic idea.

And yes, please make Michael J. Fox a recurring character next season!

Re: The Good Wife

They did have a ratings increase last night when he was on, not sure if that's always the case

Re: The Good Wife

i dunno if it was part of his acting or if this time more of his parkinson illness was shown with shaking hands, coz the last 2 times his "condition" in the show looked a bit different

But i'm also glad when he is back

He was exaggerating in court for the jury - the witness was describing how humiliating it was to be stared at while they had to get to their desk in the copy room and the lawyer character was non-verbally focusing the jury's attention on his own disability, thus putting the (minor) humiliation of the witness in stark contrast with his own disease and humiliation he "surely must feel" every second of every day in his life.

It wasn't Fox's Parkinsons, it was just his character playing up his own disability for the jury.

yes he did that also the last 2 times when he was on the show and this time it was probably intended in the same way but it looked imo like someone who has really Parkinson, the last 2 times it looked different. Probably just a coincidence

Re: The Good Wife

Honestly, I feel like this is the first episode when The Good Wife had a major misstep. Having Chavez as a character in your show is already pushing it, but the head-cut-off video conferencing was just too much. He didn't serve any real purpose that any of his "minions" shown during the episode couldn't fulfill. Having him talk via phone would have been bad enough, but the video conferencing was just awful.

And while I liked that the episode was concentrating on Alicia's world crumbling - btw. well done and very well acted by Julianna Margulies - it was rather glaringly obvious that Chris Noth wasn't in it. I understand why (he is in a Broadway play, which is the reason why he is still - and will remain - only a guest star and not a regular, and thus the show gets him for a limited number of episodes and the creators opted to have him in the last three episodes rather than this one), you still can't have an episode about him winning the election and not show him!

So concentrating on Alicia was a creative decision that was forced by Noth's absence and I feel like it detracted from the episode, no matter how much they tried. Having said that, I love how Alicia learned of Peter's infidelity and the final episodes should be glorious. Too bad they won't start airing until May 3 sad

Re: The Good Wife

Nice to see Martha Plimpton back, especially that she's also starring in Raising Hope. smile

A very emotional episode, both on the legal side and the drama side. Me likes very much, they need to renewed it. I mean, really, one of the best shows on CBS, ever.

Re: The Good Wife

Agreed. Although I'm not sure I'm a fan of Peter's change toward the end. Sure, he's hurt, but now his professions of love - even the ones made in private ("What do you know, I fell back in love with my wife") - seem very shallow if he's willing to "turn evil" a start fighting Alicia ...

SARAH SILVERMAN!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D *love*
Oh, they even changed to a more silent theme, what a nice touch.
An episode about bigamy, marriage etc. how lovely for a season finale and because of the recent developments. :P Enjoyed it very much, I like how Alicia has transformed from a fragile, hurt woman to a stonecold... hm, well, not bitch, but she is indeed stonecold with a shell, not showing any emotions at all.
And uff, I was already writing this a a season finale, but there's still one more episode! Oh the joy.

Re: The Good Wife

Yes, the last two episodes had stellar writing and fantastic acting from Julianna Margulies ... I think the Emmy is hers to lose and next year's Golden Globe should be hers too smile Can't wait for the finale!

Re: The Good Wife

How come nobody's posting on the phenomenal season finale? It was, simply, stunning. I expected a big Alicia-Peter showdown and as usual, the show surprised me by not doing the obvious and what they did instead was so much better.

The episode was a fantastic example of what makes the show great: a fantastic, thrilling court case interspersed with great character moments and revelations.

Spoiler

And then there was the ending - starting with Will very charmingly paying for a $7800/night room it was unbelievably awesome. Understated, romantic, and the direction was exceptional. The elevator scene alone with the closing doors was a stroke of genius and the door-opening metaphor became the cherry on top of a very tasty cake.

"Oh c'mon! Please, god, one hour. That's all we want." "It's okay ..." *sings* Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in *sings*

"The Good Wife - you slay me. That final sequence was a triumph of writing, directing and acting. Perfection." @MichaelAusiello Truer words were never spoken.

Re: The Good Wife

I was just waiting for you, darling. wink
I agree with everyting. The ending in the elevator reminded me of Sergio Leone, he really like long scenes, sometimes with repeated sounds (like the beginning of Once Upon a Time in America). And Margulies was so sexy in the ending scenes.

So far the show has been very strong (what else did I expect) and it seems to be miraculously holding steady in its ratings (2.1 or 2.2 in the demo), which is a good sign. And yes, gotta love some Lisa Edelstein *yummy*

Yes, the running joke of eccentric judges is a welcome source of jokes in otherwise pretty heavy storylines.

Re: The Good Wife

The last minute of this week's episode was a special kind of awesome. It takes a lot of skill to provide a surprising twist, add meaning to the episode title, and be this touching all in the span of 60 seconds.

And I'm not even mentioning the fantastic score. My god how great was that piece of music? Had definite touches of Zimmer's "The Journey to the Line," especially the metronome-like rhythm. Simply fantastic.

(Yeah I get too wrapped up in TV shows, especially this one. Sue me smile )
