Uh yeah, I guess a lot of people did.  Sorry, I don't get what you're asking...

Re: Season 1 - first half

well... kb, if you were to get a flash of what's waiting for you 6 months from now and then that event however good or bad it might be (John Cho) occurred.... wait... what was I trying to say?!

right... the future the people saw is the one that would've happened when they wouldn't have had their Flashs... we and they don't know if or how people can influence their own future...

On a completely different level: WHO CARES? big_smile THIS SHOW IS JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!!! and it#s definitely a keeper.

28

Re: Season 1 - first half

Well I guess that depends on the philosophy the writers aspire to - determinism or free will.  Now that they know the future can they change it, or what they've seen will happen no matter what.

29

Re: Season 1 - first half

So you got the idea that makes it a great show smile

30

Re: Season 1 - first half

Determinism vs. Free will is an interesting angle....but I think that no matter how events play out, there can be no definitive assertion that either is the case since they both look the same in appearance.
However, whether events are predetermined or not, having the Flash Forwards potentiates the revelation that how we perceive events is not predetermined. For example, in a Flash Forward for someone who separates from their spouse 6 months in the future...the experience sucks. However, after anticipating it for 6 months, when it finally does predeterministically occur, there can be a sense of relief at having it over with, which would mean that the events stay the same, but perception can change.

...of course there's also the theory that we act based on our perceptions...but that's only valid under the free will tenets. Often it's only after the fact of an action that we come up with an explanation for why we did it. The action seems to happen of its own, and perception follows that and theorizes about it and so forth.

At any rate, I'm stoked for more of this show.

The thing that doesn't make sense to me about the flashforwards, is that I would have expected almost every person's flashforward to consist of them looking at a clock or a watch and saying to those around them, 'hey, this is the moment we flashed to 6 months ago!'  I mean, this is a global event - they're going to be paying attention on April 29th!

I was answering your quote with: Didnt almost everyone see the date and time in the flash? I did get that impression.

Therefore your concern is invalid.

Re: Season 1 - first half

Is there one or two episodes out? On my stuff to watch there is one 1x0 and one 1x1...

Re: Season 1 - first half

That's because tv.com is stupid.

No it's not.  And it's not a concern - I was actually trying to be funny, but nobody got it.

But my point is - yes, most people knew the date, therefore their flashforward would have consisted of them acknowledging that this was the moment they flashed to, because they'd been checking out their watches and clocks and waiting for this moment...

Oh never mind.  roll

Re: Season 1 - first half

They will most likely be able to change events... otherwise there would have been no reason for them to see the future at the first place... but of course, not everything has to have a reason (unless when it comes to fiction, obviously) wink

Re: Season 1 - first half

I like the whole future thing. Really looking forward to next few episodes. They could just as easily screw things up with the story wink But I have faith it is going to be a really cool series. smile

Re: Season 1 - first half

I sure hope they manage to survive this season.... cause with LOST ending next year, there's a lot of people without their scifi-mystery tv-show hungering... so...

Good Luck, Flash Forward. I'm counting on you!!

Re: Season 1 - first half

Very strange show.  The creepy bit is...

Spoiler

when the guy just calmly stood up and walked out of the stadium as if nothing was wrong

that freaked me out.

This show has potential - let hope they don't screw it up.

The Mosaic Collective

...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Season 1 - first half

I love the ending of this episode.. chocking and powerful smile

I do, however, have a problem with the doll. If he had that picture on the wall and he created the situation which aloud the picture to be taken, on information he got from the wall -> that would suggest that what ever they do, nothing will change... that does in turn get me back to someones original question: If nothing will change, the flash had happened in the flash too, everyone should have been aware about the moment they flashed to... and perhaps they should have been looking at their watches... smile

Did anyone get anything of what I just wrote?

I did but I think my soul died a little in the process, but I hope that Demetri Noh won't die because I enjoy John Cho too much and I think he gives a lot to the show.

Re: Season 1 - first half

Second episode and already it was boring, shallow (+idiotic dialogues), full of cliches, slow... you name it. I'm sorry, but for me it ain't going to be Lost 2. wink

Re: Season 1 - first half

Definitely, the best new show of the season - hands down!
Episode 1 was very good, but Episode 2 was even better.
The last 10 seconds of Episode 2,  wow!

I love the plot and will continue watching the show, but the dialogues and the characters do not impress me. Hopefully the story will be strong enough to carry the deadweight.

Re: Season 1 - first half

in a sense it's so damn easy to divert from the flash forward. just do one thing different and it's not the same. if i saw something i didn't like, i would definitely try to avoid the paths i recognize from the flash. they do exactly the opposite

In real world IMO even a tiny little thing could rewrite your entire future (if it would be possible to see it). I
guess this show tries to prove that no matter what they do the future will stay the same. So it's kind of a future that it's there and you're heading towards that day merely as a bystander.
