so ... how did the black rock end up in the middle of the effin island. I thought, up until this point, that the BR was on the ocean, then the island appeared and it was on the island. Now that we know they straight up sailed there ... im confused.

I suppose they could of moved the island with the Black Rock in the vicinity? That's not been explained yet...

Also ... anyone remember the episiode where Jack was in thailand and peopel where afraif of him and there was mumbling about him being the chose one or smth?

All the flashbacks are there for a reason, maybe we'll eventually find out. It could be because they knew he had been chosen by Jacob...?

Re: 5x16 & 5x17 (SPOILERS!)

they found the island using the lampost, how they knew about it is another matter, unless hanso or the degroots were on the black rock

Re: 5x16 & 5x17 (SPOILERS!)

Re: 5x16 & 5x17 (SPOILERS!)

and i've had the whole series running from the beginning on a second pc next to my desk for the last few days... happened to glance over and spot this last night [from 4x11]... to add to the "Bad Twin" foreshadowing...

http://i44.tinypic.com/161m984.jpg

... which got me to thinking... so we see Jacob 'marking' some of the characters in 5x16/17... i figured that the ones Jacob marked would be rallied to him upon his death, which saves them from the bomb blast... but didn't give a thought to the fact that the one's not touched by Jacob may have been marked by Un-Locke... i guess they must have had a schoolyard pick...

theConundrumm, having an afterthought wrote:

[but... jacob gives advice to Kate that, if followed would have led down a path that would have ended with her NOT getting on Flight 815...

Locke was saved by Jacob... yet the ^ picture..??? i thought the white light that Locke encountered in the first season.. "I looked into the eye of the island, and what I saw...was beautiful".. was Jacob in 'security system' mode... but the ^ picture...??? are Jacob and Un-Locke picking pawns for the opposite player's side..?

in the episode where Locke and the hippies get infiltrated by Eddie The Undercover Cop, eddie says that it's in his file that he was easy to coerce... which probably adds to why Un-Locke chose him as his avatar... sad really that recent events, and looking back over past/future [?] events totally screw with the perception we had of Locke... he wasn't a great leader, he wasn't a wise man... he was just a sad, easy to coerce old man...

and i highly recommend rewatching old episodes... amazing how you see some of the major player's choices and the motivations for in an entirely different light...

Re: 5x16 & 5x17 (SPOILERS!)

well, even if locke was (in retros) just a pawn, a sidekick, whatever ... its still intersting to see how he became a leader type personality for people on the island. He got there in a wheelchair with suicidal (prolly) fantasies, but became the guy that kills boars, carried a knife and kept his cool 8/10 times.

also, I still cant say what richards visit to little locke was about, but he saw smth in im (since I guess this was his visit to see if "this kid's got it") ... so te calendar of events was:

- Locke gets on everyones nerves about destiny and so on
- The other Jacob thinks, hm ... maybe I can use this dick
- the other Jacob, as Jacob, tells Richard John is the new boss
- Richard goes back in time, checks out the kid, approves
- which brings me to the questions: why if he is just a pawn?

It was probably all planned up by anti jakob so locke could die and that then anti jakob could take his body ?

good point... i guess whatever his motivations, what he brought to the table was within him in the first place... something i do seem to have oerlooked

i don't think Richard went back in time... Richard wanted him to pick the compass*, but John picked the knife... if anything i thought Richard seemed disappointed... i think he wanted Locke to pick the compass and recognize it and keep it, which would divert the timeline [?]...

*compass timeline:

it originally belonged to Richard... so...

Richard brings the compass to the island... he gives it to Locke... who gives it to Richard who gives it back to Locke who gives it back to Richard while island-time-skipping... erm.. who has the compass now...? [yeah, i'm a bit off here, but you get the point... basically the compass is stuck in a time loop]

Re: 5x16 & 5x17 (SPOILERS!)

seems like the compass ... needs a compass.
