which is better in your opinion?
I enjoyed How I Met Your Mother more to begin with,, but now i'm leaning towards The Big Bang Theory. The characters in The Big Bang Theory are just way more fun.

I am more swayed to Big Bang Theory....however it is the slightest of sways, I would almost say they are dead even.
If How I met your mother lost barney, than I would be all in on B.B.T., Barney just almost makes that show for me.

It's like Sophies choice...
Both shows are awesome... both have intelligent humor, and some a bit less intelligent 
Barney and Sheldon are both so damn awesome characters...
I guess that it comes down to the woman... Kaley Cuoco is beautiful, but Cobie Smulders is just more beautiful. Also, there is usually a bigger variety of hot females in himym.

After a year I got so bored with How I Met Your Mother and I did not laugh that much with that show. Not that the actors are bad I did like em allot but not enough to keep watching it.
On the other hand The Big Bang Theory is so funny. I adore the actors. The story is good and bringing Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert together again was the best thing ever for me as a big Roseanne fan from the 80s.
Story wise its a no brainer.
After 4 seasons of How I met youre mother you would had expected that the dude had finally found the mother of his childeren.
With the Big Bang Theory they still would be nerds even after 20 seasons and it still would be funny. Sad but funny.

I think Ted, Robyn and Barney are the only real funny ones on HIMYM lately...Marshall has his moments...but they're few. Actually, even Ted isn't that funny...he's just the lynch pin of the show...
With the BBT, Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Penny, Howard and pretty much every single guest star...all have maintained a pretty high degree of hilariousness.
Definitely not as quotable as HIMYM, and Cobie is beautiful....but I lean to BBT more and more.

They both kick ass. But over time HIMYM got mostly about Barney's jokes, the other chars are not that funny, especially Ted. Totally agree with Robcore here.
TBBT chars are just great, every nerd has his moments so to speak. So i think TBBT is slightly better, even with HIMYM having some story, but then again... who needs epic story arcs for great comedy

that's one of the most hilarious lines in tv history for me...
...but then, 4 nerds in a row wearing Flash costumes so they look really fast...and the time machine episode....ehhh, it's a damn close call.

Hmm, let me rephrase that.. I think Barney is more awesome than any of the characters in The Big Bang Theory,, but HIMYM just doesn't have as many funny characters in my eyes, maybe it is the group effect that makes the big bang theory so great, because removing any of the 4 nerds would damage the show

I really love HIMYM and i was sad, when i come to this point, that i have to wait for a episode.

How I met your mother were better than Big Bang Theory before, but the last seasons has made that change. But I still love them both!

Just watching Big Bang Theory first episode. From my opinion right now HIMYM is better, way better.
Big Bang Theory is just kinda stupid. but i will give him a change.

Well those are my two favorite sitcoms. Based on all seasons of both shows I'd go with how I met your mother, but right now I prefer the big bang theory. The ep with leonards mother was full of hilarious win!
As for characters in these shows, Barney wins hands down! Legen-wait for it-dary!

Apparently CBS decided to run Big Bang for two more years... meaning there will be two more seasons

It's good to know we have something stgable in the world, with Battlestar coming to an end, and all...
And another thing, love Big Bing, love HIMYM (not as much as I used to, but still...), but DO NOT LIKE The Office. Not at all, not any version, ever.

Wellll, I don't know really, It's just that I find the whole thing more.... uncomfortable than funny. I just get embarrassed on their behalves. I have tried to watch maybe 5 different episodes but they all just made me feel.... bad. Maybe because I feel I know all these characters from work and it feels like a reality show/documentary instead of a mockumentary....

for me, i put it like this.... when I have both shows ready to watch which one do I wanna watch first? the answer for me is BBT. There are some shows that almost every line cracks me up. it's at a constant high level of humor. I actually feel a little sad when an ep of BBT is over b/c I always want more... lol.
I was a huge fan of HIMYM when it first started but it slowly got worse and worse, with the exception of Barney.
Bottom line, if I had to pick right now, BBT all the way.
Which would you choose first?
