Rome and Band of Brothers rocked my socks. Blackadder was okay...but just okay. I dunno what it is with Brit-coms...some I hate (Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister) and others I love (Extras, The Office, Red Dwarf, Mr. Bean). Blackadder was just okay though...not great; not horrible.
Gotta go with Rome...

It occurs to me that there are really two kinds of period shows. There is the one kind that takes place within one’s own life span, and then there is the other kind like Rome. Most of you are young to vary young and so have fewer of the first kind than I do. If quality television and movies continue to be made in the future, you young people will get to enjoy seeing the decades from your past portrayed. Much as old guy’s like me have enjoyed shows like That 70’s show or Life on Mars. All that said my vote had to go to Mad Men. I was just a little kid in the early to mid sixties but that show is just so well done that it’s a pleasure to watch just for that aspect alone. In fact that’s the only thing I really like about it. Rome was great as well.

Laughing aside, I agree that Band of Brothers is one the best Mini-series ever, so was John Adams, (if not better), but neither of those shows are on the list. The creator of the poll missed some great period pieces.

We are talking in context. Best show in a disucssion about period TV shows, you don't need to be particularly clever to follow that.

I felt the same thing about 70's and Rome - just vice versa
Maybe these shows a mutually exclusive. Or is there a fan of both shows who can't decide which of those two shows is more awesome?
