Well, Rome was with big budget, but still if you want realistic period show, then i believe Rome isn't the best period TV show.
Maybe i'm a idiot(Actually, sometimes i believe, I am ), but i have seen Rome, interesting plot, but so is Merlin plot IMO, but that don't make Merlin very good period show.

And Band of Brothers is mini-series, but still a series. 10 episode, that's more than average British show
Every episode 60 min.(60*10) that's (I think, now i remember, actually it isn't, because of the pilot episode of Firefly. So it's still pretty close to that ) more than Firefly, who we miss so much.
Anyway, my point. I believe, best period show was Band of Brothers, because it showed from my opinion pretty good WWII. But still, i haven't been there. i might be mistaking.

From the poll, i can't choose show what's from there is the best period show. (haven't seen about half shows from the list) But i just didn't like all thous good words about Rome.  Don't hate that show, my brother loves it. Just think that it's not that realistic what all people say.
