The UK is funnier for 2 reasons... 1. The US have no sense of humour
2. The US pump out so many shows one of them is bound to be funny by the law of averages, the UK is constantly funny. Sorry guys, but its true.

Your second conclusion might actually have a point, but I don't see it in average, and that's why I choose US and still sicking with the choice..

**ahem** What bout Australia? While it may not have quantity it has some quality stuff: the chaser, full frontal, kath and kim, frontline...
But i agree the UK has more consistency in its comedy and the US has let some appalling stuff go to air and gold get axed.

Thats the point. America best comedy is sitcoms, UK best is humor itself would explain better, but i could to that well only in estonian language

If you're going to compare, at least choose shows that are actually comparable!! I mean, Family Guy against Postman Pat. One is an comedy animation made for adults, the other a non-comedy show for little kids. I won't even dignify your comparison of South Park and Teletubbies with a scathing retort of how ridiculous it is. And the demographics at which both Scrubs and Keeping Up Appearances are aimed is so completely different, that even though they're both comedy you can't even come close to comparing them. Hmmm... I think I sense an unfair fight here.

Although you have to admit that usually British and American shows are very different. American goes for either Weeds type comedy or How i met your mother type. British usually have either sketch shows(only American sketch show I can think of is Whitest kids you know (Office doesn't count cause they stole it from the Brits)). Anyway, British are a lot more absurd and black and complicated whilst Americans go for the easier slapstick style. Both have pearls but really for me the right way is the British way.

Brothers...Sisters...can't we just get along? How about we just say that the natively english speaking coutries kick all the other countries asses at comedy...or hell maybe just any televised broadcasts or films

whist i feel for my brother for my brother across the ditch in the server lack of representaion of our countries - please do not hold up the evil that is kath and kim as a bekon of shinging aussie humour - perhaps rove - but then i suppose it IS the best you can do (btw i ment the grammar only in jest as you can see by this post i lack the basic sperling of the English language - big ups to anyone who is attempting to learn english esp. as their 3rd laungage) {now if only the aussies could learn to pronounce it correctly}

I had a whole retort ready to explain why I think American comedy is better (it was gonna include that the funniest people are always Canadian ) but I wasn't really being fair. I can honestly say that outside of The Office UK version, Extras, and the occasional Mr. Bean skit I have not actually seen or even heard of many of the British shows being thrown around in here. So instead of being narrow minded I thought I'd use this opportunity to ask for recommendations so I can fairly judge for myself.
So all those who voted for British comedies gimmie some names.
