Re: PC vs Mac
never got that if mac is soooo much better why is it not possible to play game...
madboobs you hit the nail on the head. One of the major Mac FREAK's here at work runs Vista on his Mac to play games. The other one was going to purpose-build a Mac gaming machine. After he did his research (suitable graphic cards) he started looking into the Vista on Mac option as well.

Re: PC vs Mac
nightcrow - I didn't know the average PC could run OS X, maybe the question should be how good? As said I've been using my Mac for 7 years (now on Tiger) and not likely to replace it any time soon. Yes it's a little slow but 95% of the time you don't notice it. Yes a PC is cheaper but the one I have has problems after 2 years which will require a replacement main board soon which means new CPU, RAM, Video card, I might as well just get a whole new PC! with less than half the life of my Mac which is working great with it new 1.6Ghz CPU upgrade.

Re: PC vs Mac
It's not this much a matter PC vs Mac, but about the attitude of their users. Since all PC-users are used to keep heads up from day 1 on, Mac-lovers still believe they are on the safe side. Because they use Mac. Haha. I'll never forget a good friend of mine, who always told me with a religious underone: "I have a Mac. Nothing can happen to me." Until reality bit. Now even this guy is running anti-virus-software. Although he uses a Mac.

Re: PC vs Mac
Seriously, the whole PC vs Mac "discussion" is retarded because of all the fanatics, give me a break, everything is grey nowdays anyway, there is no "best". Especially since today a MAC is just about the same hardware as any PC, the OS is different. Apple have for a long time been alot better on areas such as usability, but MS is catching up and Vista, in my opinion, is a big step in the right direction. Don't forget that MS have a more difficult job than Apple, an OS is easier to make for a few hardware setups, than for "every" hardware in the world. Also, numbers don't lie, most computers in the world run Windows. However, one fact is; A PC can do everything a MAC can, but a MAC can't do everything a PC can (and I mean with satisfactory performance, without getting into hacks, tweaks and all that bull)

Which planet are you on.? Vista is a step backwards, several steps at least. Even MS admitted it was rubbish.
DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom". http://xkcd.com/488/

Re: PC vs Mac
Oh surprise surprise, PC has won the poll. 80.5% of the 1067 votes. But then it was obvious PC was going to win within the first few minutes . I personally voted for PC, although my vote was more to do with familiarity than any genuine preference. I haven't used a Mac since I was in high school, which was more years ago than I care to remember. But don't let me interrupt the geek discussion going on here. Carry on.

Lancer, you CAN run OS X on a pc, i know - becoz i do it. and OS X runs ALOT better on my PC than windows ever did. Check out Kalyway, JaS or Leo4all - they are all OSX86. and you can damn right about the HDD, Macs are just better and thats that.

LOL Wizard you're 100% right!! VISTA IS A PILE OF SHIT! and its MS's attempt at making a cheap unsuccessful copy of OSX, especially with its 'Widgets - sidebar' thingy. hehe

Re: PC vs Mac
Maybe we can have a OS poll sometime in the future? I personally would have a Mac platform if I could afford one, and I'd also run another OS (Linux distro.) on it (and maybe Windows). But as I can't afford one (hence me voting PC), I just dual boot Windows and Linux. You kind of get the best of both worlds. Linux is easy to use (once you know how to use it!) and customisable, while you also get the compatibility of Windows. I find Linux more fluid when programming, with Windows there's always a massive process going on somewhere. This may also be the case with Linux, but you never seem to notice it, it's always fast!

Re: PC vs Mac
Mac is a brand. An expensive one. Its easier to upgrade and their are many more alternatives with pc. You get more power and cheeper with pc.

Re: PC vs Mac
madboobs - the PC I have is barely 2 years old and can't be upgraded, I can't add more RAM as there is a problem with the slots so my next move is when it fails is to get a new one. Yes I've upgraded the Mac with a new CPU and other things but it's 7 years old and still my main computer I use every day. And yes to replace the Mac with a PRO Mac it's 2-3 times the cost of a similar spec PC but it it lasts as long as this one has I'll gladly do it again!

Re: PC vs Mac
Indeed. I dont really know what you mean either, after 7 years? Have you got anything from the old one left? If you do how good is that part today? Two years ago i had the same computer as i have today. Its a 2ghz dualcore from amd with 2,5gb ddr2 1000mhz and a ok graphic card. What i have upgraded is the ram. It was originally 1,5gb ddr2 667mhz. This computer might not be top but works good. And i can play most new games like, crysis and so on.

Re: PC vs Mac
if you want a gaming machine, buy a damn nintendo - so clearly that is not an argument as to PCs being better than Macs.
