Topic: Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead

Ok, who survived the emotional one-two punch at the end of the second part w/o significant damage to their emotional well-being? The Moff does it again!

For me the best episode of Doctor Who has been The Girl in the Fireplace simply because of how well it was written and because the chemistry between Tennant and Miles (his real-life girlfriend) was something extra-ordinary. I love Blink as well, but I missed the emotional core that made The Girl in the Fireplace so exceptional.

Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead combine for me the emotions of The Girl in the Fireplace (especially the "death" part) and the inventiveness of Blink (the backstory of River). Simply breath-taking. The Moff does it again!

Re: Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead

After just re-watching the Doctor's Daughter am I the only one who thinks River is Jenny?...I've thought it for a long time now and re-watching the episode just makes me think of it again, I haven't re-watched these two episode just yet but my theory still is River being Jenny...I'm probably way off but it's the only thing that makes sense to me.

You are way off, just like anybody claiming River is his mother or sister. The way she kisses him and behaves makes it clear they are lovers and I think she is his wife. I think he can reveal his true name only when he gets married, according to Timelord rules, to someone he truly loves. And I suspect River could be another Timelord, but that I am unsure of smile

Re: Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead

I know I'm probably off when it comes to who she is, and I don't remember her kissing him which throws that off. The ending of Doctors Daughter just bugs me though because why show her being alive if not to use her at some point. I just don't see her being his wife though that doesn't seem to be right either, and she remembered the doctor even after every one forgot him. I haven't seen anything that dates before 2005, so not sure if she's going to be someone from his distant past. We'll find out this season at least.

Also I did re-watch this episode and was happy to see my favorite scene again were he threatens the Vastha Nerada and they back off after reading about him. It takes the most powerful enemy to actually be smart enough to be afraid of the doctor.
