Topic: Most surprising/shocking/moving/memorable TV death?
We've had the comedy, now it's time for the tragedy. There have been many TV deaths over the years, and I've tried to come up with a varied selection of 12. Which one would you say affected you the most?

Yeah, NCIS just hasn't been the same since.

Had to register just to say it has to be Edgar Stiles in 24. The moment between him and Chloe was unbelievable, so much unsaid and he just drops dead!

Joyce and Cordelia but no Tara? That's just wrong!

IMHO Kate from NCIS wins it hands down but also in NCIS we have Paula Cassidy and Jenny Shepard and if you include the Lazarus factor then there's Buffy in the season 5 finale, Lana in episode 511 and the season 6 finale and Clark in 503 to name but a few.

Well, there's always that moment when Wesley dies in Angel; Ilyria : "Do you want me to lie to you now?" Wesley : "Yes... please..." Other than that, can't say I have been moved by any of the propositions... Guess I won't vote then... I just realized I have no purpose posting in this thread

Ow man. I have to agree with this. That was a heartfelt moment, that I haven't experienced since in a movie/serie. pascal

It has to be Mrs. Landingham from west wing, that scene with Jed in the cathedral is one of the best in TV history.

OK people, I didn't put any really recent deaths in there in case of spoiling people (like I have now been for the end of CSI that I hadn't got round to watching yet). So stop yelling at me.

Re: Most surprising/shocking/moving/memorable TV death?
I know but she died a slow death : she had the time to say goodbye and she seemed to accept her destiny. Her death was sad because of its aftermath and the effect it had on Wesley just not as shocking as Wesley's death IMO. I just catched up on Angel : After the Fall comics and I'm starting to wonder if Fred is really gone though... As for the WW, I have to agree with auscow : that scene in the church was brilliant...

I haven't read any of Whedons comics... are they good? I love his shows, but can you really compare the comics to the shows?

Re: Most surprising/shocking/moving/memorable TV death?
Oh yes you can ! There's the same recipe that makes us love his shows : crisp dialogues, witty ploys and plot twists all the way ; It's just a different form factor from tv... I highly recommend reading Buffy Season 8 and Angel After The Fall : both are canonical and written/produced by the J-man. Also, the firefly comics are a must-read. Though I was a bit skeptical at first as well, I have to say I have been won over by the quality of the writing ;

I have to admit I didn't pay for the comics (except for the firefly ones) : oops I'll buy them when they make them into volumes. For now, it's a bit expensive to have the comics shipped monthly to France. Mxyzptlk wrote:I just noticed that we both use quotes from the same show as signatures... (or is yours from the movie?)
Heh, I had noticed that in previous threads where you posted... Always happy to find a fellow browncoat on the boards the quote in my sig is from Firefly's episode Bushwacked. It took some time to figure out which Ff quote I'd use ( the only certainty being it had to be a Ff quote) and I settled for this one which kind of encompasses the spirit of the show ; Now that's a nice off-tropic thread this one

Ok, I just realised that if I hadn't put **SPOILER** then you wouldn't have known it was a spoiler, because CSI is full of death! D'OH! And I didn't even put that it was a CSI spoiler. Im sorry KB

Ralphie Cifaretto I know he was a scum and deserved to die. But the way he was killed was just shocking. Really brutal. Also surprised by the reason he was killed for, in comparison to other crimes he had committed.

No power in the verse can stop me. Nah, seriously, I downloaded them from piratebay. Bittorrent, all the way baby ! ( that's just an expression, I'm not calling you baby or anything... just making that clear ) Firefly is just wonderful.... I so want more episode, even if the ones made can keep me for a lifetime
I'm right there with you on Firefly. That's kinda why I envy you : you'll have the opportunity to discover some new and amazing stories in the comics. And a few answers along the way... ( most notably, why Book and Inara aren't on board in the movie Serenity )
