I was surprised I had missed this, season 1 came out in 2022. Good show, a little slow but over all good show.

Re: The Undeclared War

Watched a few episodes. So far watchable. Don't know what's up with that sound track.Hacking stuff not too cringe and semi-legit, Russian bots operation spot on and surprisingly not butchered Russian language.

Re: The Undeclared War

Season 1 was a bit tighter but S2 was still pretty good. Nice show overall.

Re: The Undeclared War

good season one for the main story, secondary story is crap. the side quests are ok mostly.
the "visualization" of hacking is rudimentary at best, but expected as
a dumbing down of what really happens.
this show feeds on, and feeds peoples fear of technology and how people
have zero idea how its works or how it can be attacked.
with a little sex, religion, and ideology thrown in

its a mostly good story if greatly exaggerated.
and reminds me of 80's "evil empire" propaganda like shows of the time
( and a lot of the 80's cartoons like gi joe) in its simpleness of good vs evil.
(this show is no where near as good or as complex as something like the hunt for red October)

i am hoping season 2 keeps up the good and reduces the chaff.
and does not make AI the new evil bad guys.

if you dont like subtitles, steer clear of this show however.
there are full and half episodes of subtitles.

and a few parts where the dialog is just 3rd rate.

but over all i would say 7/10 for season 1

Re: The Undeclared War

There is not much 80ies propaganda (not counting lala blabla will start WW3, nukes and magical airspace violations), it's more like a current hybrid war documentary. BS moments more than enough, no point to go into details, in this forum will be censored in 3 seconds big_smile Overall a nice reflection on UK itself in more than one way. But compared to alike shows, this one still has a lot of things done right.

And, yes, IT/security stuff got increasingly more funny, like some junior analyst "killing" some "email traffic" from cli smile

Re: The Undeclared War

My favorite of the computer sorcery things was in S2 when they

Spoiler

clearly show the mole getting the mac address using powershell,

then make a whole plot point of the tech savant knowing

Spoiler

the keypresses to find it using control panel, then searching for that string of keypresses.

by 80's cartoon level propaganda , was describing gi-joe and cobra who never fight anyone else but each other.
no matter what is going on in the world, GI and cobs had eyes only for each other and nothing would ever change
their viewpoint. the hypocrites they both are.
EG:

Spoiler

they said that the data dump outed the UK for deep level SPYING on the USA and all the blowback was less sharing of data. wow talk about just leaving a bomb side story hanging

Re: The Undeclared War

season 2 ran off the rails for all reason and believably for anyone who have used a command line interface
or has ever worked security, or tracked a phone,  has ever had been through a security check.

hot seating in any secure location????? really??

it has gone even more cartoon level for story and plot.
most of the espionage is right out of the 80's and 90's
bottom level tv or pulp books.

i feel sorry for anyone who thinks anything in this show is done correctly or realistically,
except for the politics.

the story it self is not bad, just badly executed and badly written.

if it comes back for another season, i expect it will be almost zero cyber warfare, or only mockumentary depictions of it.

season 2 was 5.5/10 overall. so not the worst thing out there
