Topic: The F Ward

https://next-episode.net/the-f-ward

https://static.next-episode.net/tv-shows-images/huge/the-f-ward.jpg

Troubled interns get their last shot at Sydney's underfunded Pines Hospital, battling personal demons and past failures while treating patients in life-or-death situations.

decent ep1.
about the quality you expect from a b rated production.
reasonable story, reasonable acting. solid b all around. maybe a b- for the writing. its debatable.

and it dropped all at once so no waiting for the next week.

( there are hint of soap opera level drama and intrigue, which i hope does not occur
and i hope it does not devolve into who is sleeping with who)

pirates were the first democratic organizations in the new world
and the first organizations where women could lead men

Re: The F Ward

I am 4 episodes in and I have no idea what this show wants to be.

It isn't really a comedy, it has a moderate amount of humour, nothing more.
It definitely doesn't take the "medical" part seriously.

The drama is there, but it feels very much artifical.

Spoiler

"This is your last chance to become a doctor, to not throw away your years of studying, etc.."
"Yay, let's ignore all the rules and orders, take drugs, f*** around during work hours"

I would've fired every single one of them on the first day and be done with it.

Deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

you could have just said its Australian. lol
and you are pretty much 100% correct.
the only reasons i can think they were not all fired ASAP is

Spoiler

1 kid is the son of a very prominent doctor ( gay druggie), the boss was sleeping with the other guy ( hero/zero of the story), the fact the boss is a bleeding heart and Australia is more desperate for doctors then everyone else???

also

Spoiler

that party they all went too should have gotten the entire hospital staff fired.

i have seen worse and slower shows, but they were either Australian or Canadian.

i would call it low b for usa. mid b for uk..... A+ for  Australian or Canadian

someone in canada should definitionally rip it off and get a 30 million dollar government grant to do 16 episodes. put it on the aptn channel.

Haven't watched many shows from Aussie-land so far, so I don't have much for comparison - but comparing this to my 10/10 "A+" shows from these countries, it's maybe a 5/10 "C" smile

10/10 - Australia
Farscape
Wentworth
The Twelve (last appearance of Sam Neill btw.)

10/10 - Canada:
Orphan Black
Vikings
Kim's Convenience
Schitt's Creek

Kim's Convenience

that was the only show on your list that was created, written and filmed by canadians in canada.
the others were US productions in canada.  ( yes i love the levys, but they are pretty much americans now with canadian heritage)

the other two 8/10 + truly canadian show was "Corner Gas" https://next-episode.net/corner-gas if you can find it. and "Letter kenny" https://next-episode.net/letterkenny which was 10/10.
both of them show off the TRUE CANADIAN RURAL experience, and are 100% canadian by canadians for canadians.
for better or worse... ( they are also completely different yet both 100% canadian life)

canadian shows that are the same quality as f-ward... ( if better acting)
https://next-episode.net/family-law-2021
ok i forget the other ones....

i will look for season 2 of this show as it could be good, if they do a bunch of repairs and changes.. i like the idea and the location.. and most of the cast if they were more serious about being doctors...

ok they would have to change the writers..

i have seen about 20 aussie tv shows, and a few movies  but i forget the names of them all
( there was one about ned kelly another about a girl on a farm that switched back to Chinese laborers in at a work camp..)

I'll give you Vikings, but Orphan Black and Schitt's Creek? they maybe had some financial backing and distribution from the U.S. but everything else is 90+ % canadian... and I think some canadians would take offense if you called them anything else smile

Btw. by your account, Squid Game wouldn't be a pure South Korean show either - after all it's a netflix production.

Glad you enjoyed The F Ward so much, but I wouldn't compare it to Family Law (7/10) either smile

Re: The F Ward

family law was about the best production in canada by canadians in the last few years
( after letterkenny ended)
the writing was very politically  government aproved, and disjointed at best.
( not to mention you could watch the newest season in russian, 1 year before it was aired on a canadian tv network., and that was just silly( and should have been investigated))
it would never have been made without huge grants from the government.
( which may or may not have effected the writing)

brian mulroney lived in florida for almost 20 years and died there, yet still had a canadian national funeral.

he was more of a traitor then a canadian after so long away.

being born in canada is enough for many canadians to desperately  claim ownership of people ( and all of canadian media and government)

but if you leave for 20 years, you are not what you once were, and not canadian in anything but memory.

( elon musk is canadian legally, having never lived in canada, and many others.)

i have little enough respect left for "canadians" i will not apply the label to anyone and everyone for any reason.

( was squid game made by netflix because the korean government forces all media agency's to spend 15% of their profits making korean shows with korean culture and korean language in korea?, if so then i would not call it korean i would say it only existed because someone was forced to make some thing. no matter how good it is, they were still forced)

i enjoyed the possibility's in f-ward, they did not deliver.. i really don't expect a season 2 and if they have S02 i expect it to be the same quality. reinforcing failure does not encourage excellence.

i am ever optimistic of the future.
