Re: Punisher: One Last Kill

the only thing i dont much like is that they portray the punisher as mentally ill
and not consumed by a need for vengeance.
but i only dabbled in the comic so i dont know how lore accurate that is.
the movies however did not portray frank castle that way.

disney has increasingly shown the character as  losing his mind.

this movie was about on par with the violent parts of any scene with the punisher
be that netflix or disney.
there is no story here, its much like the jhon wick movies
just a progression of one kill then another.

which is fine for what it is, but it is a poor punisher movie
which should be a progression of frank seeing some horrible gang,
doing recon, planning, then assaulting a criminal den
and that is where all the blood shed comes into play.

Re: Punisher: One Last Kill

This was 40 minutes of pure waste-of-time material.  Very little story, no point to most of it.
There are a few loose ends too, so unless there is a follow up, then WTF.

Spoiler

The woman in the wheelchair, why wasn't she killed at some point.  She'll just send more people after him.

There was also some very bad CGI, the part where he falls onto a dumpster.  Clearly they used the lowest bidder on that one - https://i.redd.it/80b9aze1e31h1.gif

I have no idea how it has a 7.2 rating.

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

Depends on the comic, but yeah Castle losing his mind is actually a pretty common troupe. Depending on which version of the Punisher we're talking about the hallucinations are either caused by the gunshot to the head or the weird period when his origin story had him getting treated by a voodoo priest during the period when they were putting magic in virtually every comic.

I noped out of it early though. Huge Punisher fan and the current actor looks like he was lifted from the pages of the comics, but the minute they introduced the woman villain I was just done. You caught Frank unarmed and didn't immediately ice him? You're taunting him after everything? Nah. Just silly writing.

Re: Punisher: One Last Kill

How is it possible to screw this up so badly?

It's such a simple concept:
- You missed one
- Revenge
- Hit
- Go Punish

I mean there are even templates for this kind of movie...no need to re-invent the wheel for a 40min TV special. They could've basically just John Wick'ed it and everything would've been fine.

But no, they had to go with so much unnecessary background-noise, a poorly acted & written villain, a horrible setting and with zero conclusion on any storyline.
