Is it just me or does that seem like another show taking a REALLY DISPROPORTIONATELY LONG TIME before the next season?

The sci-fi's (Silo, Fallout etc) have an excuse (even if I don't buy it) with all the special effects.  But a live action, in modern times, no special costumes, armor, space ships etc. just has no reason for it.

Bumping this up as we're only 3 wks out from S02.  On the one hand, I kinda feel bad that Michael C. Hall has been typecast on TV (vs Broadway) as Dexter & I'm sure he'd like to do plenty of other roles.  On the other hand, I love this show so much I'm just grateful he keeps coming back for more.  S02 Trailer here:  https://youtu.be/nTOf1FIsBcs?si=-6CUayizwWIsPQXf

Totally agree: There's no excuse for these kinds of long delays - scifi or otherwise

SciFi likes to claim its due to special effects.  It doesn't hold up to logic.  Most of these shows are only 10 episodes not 24. And they have technology that is 40 years more advanced than the shows we compare them to.  (New Trek versus TNG for example) - so better effects with newer tech should be a wash.  That's still before considering that much of a scifi show still takes place on sets: Corridors, bridge, cargo bay, and so on. There's very little VFX there short of a window or computer screen and now days I can do that from home on my laptop with a dozen different programs (though I prefer Davinci Resolve) - If they're not being The Expanse with their level of special effects then they're full of shyte. [Maybe first year Foundation as well]

Current time drama as you point you has absolutely no excuse.

I've said it before and since you brought it up I'll say it again:
The streamers have a formula for keeping their monthly renters paying each and every month on time.  They know they can get away with 10 month gaps, 8 episodes of 42 minutes with 2 of those 8 being 'budget saving'... so long as they also air another show in the same genre in between.
They can have Dexter hiatus for 10 months, so long as they have Counterstrike in the middle and when that ends they can have a 3 week break before starting The Terminal List... and when it ends another 3 week break before Blue Lights begins.  And they know at what point people vote with their wallets and just cut off that service.

So long as they rotate shows... they only need to generate content minutes like TikTok.
I'm not advocating for piracy - but I can *see* how the streamers brought it on themselves after it had been virtually eliminated.  Its like watching a virtually dead disease like measles come back strong because of the anti-vaxxers are saying its all a hoax: In their zeal to proove something they caused the opposite result.  Streaming service greed did it to themselves.

As I get older (I'm pretty old now) I've started getting concerned that I'll die mid-season with some shows taking three year breaks in-between seasons (and it's getting more common)

I can see the time coming when you could, theoretically, start watching a show on the day you were born and not watch the end of season 7 until your 21st birthday. I mean, Stranger Things took 9 1/2 years to do five seasons (that one I didn't watch until the end though)

Wasn't that almost the reality of The Truman show?  It started at his birth. And you watched in real time as he grew up and experienced life.  So if you started watching when you (the audience) were 20... When Truman turned 40 you would be 60

Then I read other facts that make me realize similar things like:
Will Wheaton is now, older than Patrick Steward was when TNG went on the air.
