A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros, A young, naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (aka Dunk) and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Trailer looks decent. We'll see how the show turns out in about three months. smile

This one is on my watch list.  Really don't know what to expect.  I hope it moves faster than House of the Dragon.
Wasn't it originally slated to premier mid/late 2025, but changed to 2026?

They're short stories so, yeah, it better unless they stitch them all together into one season.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

If Game of Thrones hadn't had such a shit last few seasons and ending I might actually care about this. But like House of Dragons, I'll be ignoring this one too as I was so thoroughly turned off from this franchise in how the original series was ended I just can't care here.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

Trailer makes it look like the light-hearted, funny, part of the story every franchise (imho) needs.
Kinda wish they would've stuck with the title Tales of Dunk & Egg though...sounds a lot better.

Looking forward to it smile

Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QTAVN2u1q4

I was hoping this show would expand the stories of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.  Tie them together in some way.  Fill in some gaps.  But I am starting to get the impression that this show is its own story and makes no attempt to connect the aforementioned shows.

My hopes are waning sad

The way GoT ended was an abomination for sure.

But the persons most responsible (David Benioff & D.B. Weiss) for that have nothing to do with this show or House of Dragons.

Not for me I got about a third of the way through the first episode and binned it. YMMV.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

I found it hard to finish and extremely boring.

But I stuck it out to the end. I don't think they knew what direction they wanted to go. And the Episode felt a tad short. They introduced the main character and took forever. Come on 1 guy?

I hope EP2 is way better of this show or I will drop it.

Scenery etc was great. But even the main character felt like a klutz, more so than he should have, and like he was wrong for the part.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

I loved everything about the first Episode smile

It didn't feel boring at all to me. I would describe it as a simple story with a simple goal.

The main character is honest and likeable, I have a soft spot for characters like him.
The other MC looks like he is going to be the anchor that will help him grow.

The story reminds me a bit of A Knight's Tale which is another plus for me.

Can't wait for Episode 2 smile

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

I enjoyed it, too, but I've read the books. If anyone is expecting a cast of thousands, quit now because this is all about Dunk and Egg. I like the casting of Dunk! He's pretty much perfect.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

My nerd friend has informed me the puppet show was the story Sansa liked as a kid. That is all

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

I found it slow but didn't feel like turning it off at any point, now I know its that kind of show I'm all in.
Really liking the characters.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

Very much enjoyed the first episode, love how clumsy Dunk is and how it adds to the humour.
Disappointed it'll only be 6 episodes though, is that right?

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

The ending of the original GOT ensured that I will never care or watch any of it's spinoffs or iterations ever again. I also actively avoid the Dynamic Duo that was responsible for that fiasco.

I recently rewatched GoT, season 8 is a slog but has some good moments. It put me in a better mood to watch spinoffs.

So far The Dunk Show (Im not writing the full AKOTSK every time) feels like it's just something happening in the same universe, and Im ok with that. I recommend having a look at least.

I've rewatched a few times, because I really did love the show. I just... can't with season 7 and 8. I just can't. The last episode just killed every bit of enthusiasm or love I could ever have for the franchise. It's really sad given how the GOT universe just can't seem to die and so many other good shows have gotten the axe way too early.

Re: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms [Game of Thrones prequel (kinda)]

Episode 2 proves that this is exactly the kind of Spin-Off I wanted and needed from Game of Thrones.
Completely sold on the show, can't wait for next episode.

Now all I need is a Spin-Off with Arya as a sea-faring explorer smile

Spoiler

I really like the little things here, how they called for the beginning of the tourney for example.
Most shows would just cut to the audience being in the stands, but seeing all of them move there with the background and all...well done.

I did ask out loud to no one why TF your *spoiler part* was done in the dark. It makes no sense! But, yeah, I'm really liking this. I watched the "making of" special, which I also enjoyed.
