Re: preairs are in the air ...

I caught the first episode of Flash Gordon last night on Sci-Fi, and they should have definitely "leaked" the pilot months ago. The show reeks of a trashy, 1980s "sci-fi" dreg. Most of it is nonsensical, all of the male regulars on the show need a serious replacing. Actually, the token black guy can stay, his acting is halfway decent, they just don't bother to do anything with him in the program. Also, keep that one Latin guy who won the lottery, he was actually funny, and his scenes were a welcome distraction from an otherwise dull couple of hours of television.

Get rid of all the other male regulars and recast them with people who can actually act. Fire the writing staff, or at the very least, threaten to fire them if they cannot come up with better stories and a better premise for the re-imagining of Flash Gordon than this. After all that is completed, then maybe there will be something there worth watching . . . and if we are really lucky, even a few genuine, water cooler moments.

Re: preairs are in the air ...

Damn, Unfettered one,   why didnt I read ths 2 hours ago? I could have spent it doing something useful. Flash Gordon is simply Woeful.

Re: preairs are in the air ...

hmmm... sorry to say I agree and disagree with the analysis of Flash Gordon there unfetteredone. a lot of what you say is true, but I think that they may be the very things that made it so damn enjoyable. look at the source material.. a comic strip borne in the 30's, and from what I have read of the early strips, the new show is very much in that spirit. and honestly, I would hate to see a/the show done with a serious tone. the show did start slowly, and honestly, for the first thirty minutes I wasn't overly impressed, but it definitely picked up towards the end... I'll at least be giving it a few more episodes before writing it off...

i'm going to eat your brains and gain your memories...

Re: preairs are in the air ...

flash gordon= baaaaaaaaad. oh my god how bad can a show be, embarassing special effects, aweful acting and a very boring plot. This poor mix of stargate and terminator diden't convince me a bit.

this is a disgrace to the flash gordon movie of the 80's

I checked out both programs and liked them both a lot. And the best part is, neither of them are on Fox. So if people watch, there is a good chance for their survival. Hope others here enjoy them both as well. Take care and happy watching.

Re: preairs are in the air ...

Just found this: Stargate Atlantis s04e01
http://www.bt-chat.com/details.php?id=18907&hit=1

I'm almost done downloading so I'll inform you if it is indeed a good version smile

EDIT: Yup, its the same one as before. It's missing sound effects but the speech is there. It is also missing a scene in the middle so this release is not recommended.

Re: preairs are in the air ...

Erm, might sound like a stupid question; unless you have seen the whole episode how do you know it's missing a scene? (Or is it an obvious cut?)

Would it be better waiting?

On Journeyman, I think it looks good, will be promising to see where it goes, reminds me (well from what I've seen of) Ghost Whisper a bit. (Though the people to "save" aren't ghosts tongue)

Re: preairs are in the air ...

The video doesn't play at all during those minutes, and I've read from other sources that there is indeed a scene missing from the release smile

60

Re: preairs are in the air ...

Ah cheers for clearing it up smile

I think I'll wait...

Just watched Life I like it, looks good so far, kind of like Bones in a way I suppose... Lewis has given the character a quirky vibe to him

Re: preairs are in the air ...

I just watched Life and was very impressed by it. Together with Pushing Daisies and Reaper it is the only new TV show that got the privilege of jumping directly into my watch list. Others (Bionic Woman, Chuck, The Sarah Connor Chronicles) are "on probation".

Re: preairs are in the air ...

following your advice i just watched "life" and i  liked it a lot!!!! it's good to have adam arkin back.

but my favourite new show so far is still californication.

63

Re: preairs are in the air ...

yeah, californication definitely rocks.
I currently have journeyman, life, gossip girl and reaper "on probation". and I think I just added moonlight. I really didn't want to watch it, but then I was bored and wanted something to watch for breakfast, and I was quite intrigued. maybe it's my secret longing for buffy *sigh* damn I really miss that show...
however: moonlight might even be a keeper

Re: preairs are in the air ...

Moonlight was the one with the vampire, right? Is it good? I think I saw a promo during a football game.

Re: preairs are in the air ...

yeah moonlight is ok.  i'm definitly going to keep it for a while to see where it's leading.

66

Re: preairs are in the air ...

I unstick the topic now. Season started and (most of) the preairs are outdated now wink

Re: preairs are in the air ...

Life 1.11 didn't leak, it aired yesterday in the USA.

ETA: The pilot episodes of Canterbury's Law and New Amsterdam were leaked last week though. I haven't seen them yet, they're just sitting on my harddrive waiting for me to double-click them. I'm not that psyched about watching them, especially since one of them (can't remember which one because I'm Miss Alzheimers) probably won't be picked up anyway.

Re: preairs are in the air ...

No, it was a two parter, the first part aired, I think, on Monday and the second one on Wednesday. But you know, there's this great site where you can keep track of which episode airs when. It's called next-episode.net :-D

But seriously, I can never keep track of my shows despite n-e. TV.com often doesn't have the correct information because the info is user-submitted unlike thefutoncritic for example, where they only use official press releases. And I watch way too many shows. *blushes*

Re: preairs are in the air ...

hey, I rarely check my watchlist when I'm working a lot (which I am at the moment). I usually know what's airing when anyway this far into the season. so I just go to eztv when I get home and dl what's illegally mine smile
part twp of a two-parter getting aired on a totally different day than part one is of course not part of my calculations.

anyhow, I just watched it and loved it. life is amazing...
