Topic: High Potential
https://next-episode.net/high-potential

Morgan is a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective. Based on the popular French series "Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI)."
And another consultant show...since I like the concept I try out most of them. But for them to be interesting they do of course need something to differentiate themselves from others. Morgan is a good enough character for that. Kaitlin Olson is perfect for the role. Her circumstances are understandable and can be made into interesting storytelling. The other characters are OK, decent cast, apart from Judy Reyes of course who is of, course, another first class tv actress. ▼Spoiler The most interesting part is the compulsion. Who watched Monk back in the day knows all to well what interesting stories can be made out of this. Unfortunately the pilot episode seemed to loose up on that part pretty fast towards the end of the episode. Hopefully they don't forget she has this condition. Judy Reyes character was a bit to soft. From a police lieutenant I expect more confidence and presence. Hopefully they fix that in future episodes. The other detectives were "almost" too much in the background. Lead detective is a bit to stereotypical in the role of "I don't need a consultant". I think the neighbour has some dark secret? They also should've waited for her to get the job offer for at least 1-2 more episodes.
Deserved more runtime: Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier https://next-episode.net/user/WilliamDrakeMcGregor/

Re: High Potential
This show dropped down so hard to mediocrity with Episode 02, very disappointing. Giving it one more episode...

Re: High Potential
This show is a Brilliant, Intelligent, Historical Factual, Family Orienented and great script excecution. This show is one I identify with. The script is genius with a lot of potential, some peoples brains are wired the same. That's why I said this show resonates with me because their are not many people that have the exact same gift that she has. Not everyone has the abilities to live that fortunate. I am looking forward to the next episode.

This could've been the case if they hadn't decided to drop her struggles immediately. Of course, people with gifts like that can live without struggle, but that was not what they established here. ▼Spoiler There was a reason why she couldn't keep a job and why she worked as a cleaning lady (not that there is anything wrong with that). But as of EP02 they completely ignored that, no compulsion or anything else that seemingly made her live a bit more difficult. They rather decided to focus on the missing husband which, in my opinion, is a lot less interesting than her own struggle. The impact we could've felt with a compulsion could've resulted in something similar as in the show "Mom" where at the end, the daughter never speaks with her mother again. Unless they bring that struggle back again, I think they just went in the wrong way.

You and your IMDB ratings... Watch it and make your own mind up. I find it completely unrealistic and a bit meh. I still watch it though

I love this show. I would love to see it cross over with Will Trent! Will and her together would be a hoot.

Re: High Potential
I really wanted to like this show. Kaitlin Olsen is great, everyone else is fine too. But for some reason, it just didn't sit right. I have no trouble with suspension of disbelief, but this show required too much of that. So not for me, although my wife liked it and continued to watch. There is just so much good stuff around these days, I always have a backlog.

Yes, as much as you are the original Terminator, but not in the past, without time travel, a metal skeleton and the willingness to kill everybody in your way. Come with me if you want to live.

2x7 ▼Spoiler Silly how that car chase ended... ...but other than that, good episode. Slightly miffed that we have to wait about 9 WEEKS for the next episode!

Wait... What? 9 weeks? Are they just totally holding for the entire months of Thanksgiving and Christmas? Man I miss 24 episode seasons, that start every year in September. None of these short seasons and 18 months in between while taking massive 9 week breaks in the middle.

Re: High Potential
i gave up just a little into season 2. it became less about her encyclopedia of knowledge and observation and just another pointless hollywood not really a mystery show. much like every other hollywood reboot/remake/crapfest in the last 5 years. i have almost all but given up on original writers anymore. or even writers that can rehash a old idea well.

I recently learned that show has sound; when sitting on the remote and turning off `Mute`. Who knew? I've been watching it just fine without. it became less about her encyclopedia of knowledge and observation
Hollywood doesn't have the talent pool of writers that can maintain *smart* for long. There's a reason why you see people talking about "I'm on my 6th rewatch of The Expanse"... "I just noticed blahblah on my 4th rewatch of Battlestar"... "I haven't rewatched Babylon-5 in a while so now its practically an all new show: What a treat." People would rather re-watch 1990's shows than watch new from today's offerings.
