Fighting evil so you don't have to. Wendy Watson is recruited by The Middleman as his protégée. The Middleman, a milk-guzzling comic-book-like superhero, protects humanity from the supernatural forces that lurk in the shadows. The Middleman is based on Javier Grillo-Marxuach's series of graphic novels.

One of the best shows I have ever seen. I cannot fathom why it was cancelled after one season.

Every single character is likable in their own ways.
The platonic relationship between the two main characters is perfectly developed.
The writing is imho top notch. Every conversation has so much wit to it.

Shows that deserved more runtime:

I agree, as i remember it was a good show. Not that i remember much of it, other than that i watched it all and also that the girl who had the leading role later was in another show i watched. smile

I also found the Middleman engrossing. Never could understand why it did not get a second season.

It was cancelled due to low ratings (before its intended 13 episodes had even been made).

Low rating came from it being an offbeat show that was hard to categorize and publicize. Definitely not one of your usual genre type shows that dominate programming these days.

Why dub dub when you could choose Lacey? Oh man, she was unreal beautiful.

Also genuinely a great show, really did end too soon.
