I noticed that too, but 2 and a half years after season 1 ended, I had almost no recollection of what happened, so I couldn't get into it, even though I loved the first season.
This trend of taking multiple years between seasons is extremely annoying.

I began watching 2x1 and - to my surprise - realized that I must have remembered all the vital info from season 1, because everything made sense. smile

Finished Season 2 - would give it a 5/10.

It had a good start, the ending was ok (at least in a major story sense)...everything inbetween...meh.

My biggest critique would be that the story is too diluted.
Too many characters with different storylines, constantly splitting up and coming back together.
They are also changing allegiances or goals every other episode, which was as soapy as an Arrowverse show in the later seasons (Arrow, The Flash, etc.).

And they started to ignore time as a factor of travel to an extend that you could basically say Season 2 unlocked "Fast Travel".

At the end they also made Monarch look like a joke.

The story was there, if done with a little bit more focus, this could've been a lot better.

Tracing the steps of Bill Randall was the best part of it. Imho, focusing on the family (without the drama) and using Titan X as an obstacle would've been my preference.

Kate as the "Chosen One"...horrible storyline - didn't like that at all.
Kentaro and Isabell...also horrible storyline - especially trying to pull it all off with a bunch of college students, wtf?!

Episode 8 was probably the worst of it all. What happened on that beach was just embarrasing.. the writing, CGI an even the acting from everyone was subpar.

If all of the portals are linked to the one on Skull Island. Doesn't that mean every big monster could show up on the Island at any point and mess with Kong - shouldn't he then know about the place and do the same thing as Godzilla - force Titan X back through the portal? But no, just hope that she finds her own way after that slugfest...

Only good thing about this Season is that it makes me wanna watch the movies again smile

If you cut out the "let's talk about feelings" part, you could cut the season down to two episodes that actually advance the plot.
I'm writing this while watching episode 8 and accoding to WilliamDrakeMcGregor I'm now scared.
There are so many good shows that got cancelled, but this crapfest gets 3 seasons (and maybe more)... why god, WHYYYYY???
