Saw the first episode. Not impressed. Bad CGI and acting. Shame, I wanted to like it.

1x1 - Brothers in Arms - Really great '70's music throughout, probably the best part of the show, and much more interesting story than John Wick 4. Insane amount of coverage! Felt like a movie. The characters and setting are gritty and compelling. Great action scenes from Frankie, edge of my seat. Mel Gibson = the weakest link, he brought the calibre of the show down. It's a 3 part mini-series, and definitely feels more like a movie than your average TV show, especially with the 1 hour 30 minute run time. @Wizard, that was a fast response, surprised you even watched it, you hate John Wick, weird.

Indeed, JW3 and 4 were terrible. 1 and 2 were good. As I said, I wanted to like it, but just couldn't.

I liked 1x1! They made New York feel authentically gritty and dirty, based on what I read about those years and heard from people who lived there back in the days. Yes, felt almost like a movie.

Lots of famous tracks in the show, must have paid a fortune to play them all, glad they did! I'm usually a big fan of Mel Gibson, but he felt a bit off in this I agree. ▼Spoiler They should probably given us a bit more screen time with Frankie before the heist, because I could not make any sense of it. He knew everything about the organisation and at what length they would go to get the printing machine back, still he found the risk acceptable to steal it for money? He even left a witness alive before the "betrayal", so they would have found out it was him either way. Cool action scenes tho, looking forward to the next episode.

I thought it was pretty good but not quite the same without Christopher Walken

I had no issue with that - after all, criminals often don't make the smartest decisions... Case in point:

I just watched most of ep 1 tonight (ran out of time). I liked it, too. Colin Woodell was good as a younger Ian McShane. I can kind of see how the voice and way of speaking could mature into McShane. Mel Gibson was maybe a tad dramatic, but Winston becomes more dramatic as he ages, too. Maybe Gibson's character influenced Winston. Anyway, I'm watching the rest.

Re: The Continental [John Wick Prequel, Action, Drama, Mini-Series]
Finished it. 8/10 1x3:
▼Spoiler The first "two people in a closed phone booth" fight I recall watching and some creative fighting with instead of playing billiards. I've enjoyed watching this show more than the first and fourth John Wick movie. Everything looked great, the fights were good throughout, causing expensive(-looking) and mostly realistic damage to the settings. This explains why: https://www.cbr.com/john-wick-the-conti … on-budget/ According to The Hollywood Reporter, each episode of The Continental will have "budgets upwards of $20 million," with the full series reaching nearly $60 million overall. This exceeds the cost of the first two John Wick films, made on $20-30 million and $40 million respectively, with only John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum surpassing it on a $75 million budget.
(Chapter 4: $100 million)

I just finished it. I really love Gene. Sadly, it got pretty predictable. This does not mean I won't watch any other Wick spin-offs - especially if they do a "bringing up John Wick" thing.

1x3 - I enjoy the world building and John Wick lore, but because a lot of this episode was a long drawn out action sequence we've seen a million times, I found myself fast forwarding.
