The scripted drama will adapt Bernard Cornwell's trilogy of Arthurian novels, The Warlord Chronicles. In the first book, Derfel Cadarn, a former warrior sworn to Arthur and now an elderly monk, tells the story of how Arthur became warlord of Dark Age Britain despite illegitimacy to the throne.

Amazon Prime Video is offering the first episode free to watch. I thought it was ok, a little woody in some spots (a festive gathering I thought people seemed a bit woody/off) but overall pretty nice.  At least you can watch it and see if it's something you think you'll like or want to invest in more.

Seemed decent, couldn't really tell much about it from one episode but at least i didn't have to turn it off after 10 minutes like a lot of things.

Re: The Winter King

Cannot say I like the characters-actors very much. No one really stands out the way they did in GOT. One interesting thing was seeing Fitz from Agents of Shield go He-Man.

Re: The Winter King

I actually couldn't bring myself to watch the second episode.  Maybe another time I will.

I thought the second episode picked up a bit and i think i'm more interested now

Spoiler

though losing Eddie Marsan that early takes it down a notch on principle for me

in the dark cold of winter?

Re: The Winter King

This show is a sacrilege to English heritage, it felt like someone had just raped the Arthurian legends and I honestly had to take a bath after watching episode one.

Re: The Winter King

I just watched eps 2 & 3 and I was all good with the story. I'm glad I didn't watch the 2nd episode before because it gave me two episodes back to back to watch and I liked that better.

The only thing that comes to mind when I read that is a State Farm commercial where the dude in red is at the movie theater and a guy a couple rows behind him gets his attention and asks "What if?"  "What if you're feeling alone and in the dark?"

The State Farm guy assures him they'll be there for him and turns back to watch the movie again just before the guy behind him let's out a frightening scream and popcorn goes flying.

Anyway...

I just watched ep.4 and was surprised that approximately in the 43 minute, when they entered the tin mine you could clearly see they were wearing regular shoes that you can buy in your nearest shoe store.
I even backed up to be sure ...
I'm sure that in the 6th century, footwear was definitely different!

Agreed. Nothing can hide from the corporate ideologues and their quest to make everything fake and ghey.
