Topic: Katla
https://next-episode.net/katla # One year after the outbreak of a violent eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla, the peace and tranquility in the small town of Vík has been dramatically disturbed with the eruption still active. The ice near the volcano has been melting, the area has been evacuated and only a few remaining people manage to provide the necessary community service in the village, which is now only accessible by crossing the Markarfljót river. The grand area has turned out to be somewhat apocalyptic and Vík is declared a danger zone. Mysterious elements, that have been deeply frozen into the glacier from prehistoric times, start to emerge from the melting ice with consequences no one could ever have foreseen. This short series is from 2021. I found it some time ago but just got round to watching it. Just at eps 1 but enough to keep watching. The dubbing is fine. Some great but grim scenary

Hmmm, both look like an average (non-obese) woman, with lots of dirt added?

It's exactly that, a volcanic dirt.

Re: Katla
Finished watching S01. Unexpected from Island, this show easy is on par with American shows, a good job for 300k people nation. Also shazamed soundtrack which is done by a band from Island - MAMMÚT. We need more of European culture in the mix, especially since US is losing the grip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cx4bLIs8G7Q ▼Spoiler The last ep took very dark turns And the boy pulled off some very authentic Chucky vibes.

▼Spoiler The original one, who gave up playing piano. Also it was shown that the spawned one (different color top) had the try before it was mathematically clear that the next will be the killshot.

There is that tv series "Raknarok" https://next-episode.net/ragnarok But I think that was spoilt in not ending at season 1

Re: Katla
I watched that Norwegian show. The first season was fine-ish. But this Katla imo is done way better. Hard to formulate, but Americans have managed to figure out how to wrap any crap in a shiny wrapping paper, a lot of European shows (including made in my country) lack that. They simply are falling behind on know-how and experience, so this one had all the usual Northern Europe vibes, but felt that it has that US standard of production. Also, there is the language barrier, because any show which is not initially made in English will lose bits in translation to English, because there simply are language constructs which you cannot translate precisely. Even in this show you could see that dubbed text and subtitles often match just in general meaning. The same is when English speaking countries try to play with Orchish language in random spy/evil guys shows - they simply are not aware what words or sequences of words have what weight/meaning (or they cheap out on consultants).
