LOVE season 2. I'm at ep6 of the second season and it is just awesome.

Enjoying it too, never read the books (except "American Gods") but love how they embrace the total fantasy aspect of the whole "world building", unencumbered and uninhibited by any corporeal concerns

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

It started off slow, but I'm liking it alot now.

And I've got all the books.

2020.  Meh.

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Episode 7...I cannot help but compare it to the books, being that the case I hated almost everything they did here...
Even if I try to think about the episode independently, it was basically just a pitty party.

Be warned, Spoilers contain some information out of the books.

Spoiler

Why does this show have the need to tell us what is going to happen? It was the same with "spilling family blood" and now it's the Kindly Ones, Dreams death and Daniel - just let the story unfold ffs...

Nula being the commander of the Fairy Folk army...what? Titania didn't even like her.
Cluracan just riding into the Dreaming...What about the gatekeepers and the Nemesis?

Bringing in Time and Night...that basically ruins the hope for Overture ever being adapted as a Spin-Off or such...

I assume you all saw the vignette at the end of credits in S02E11? And that there is one more episode on July 31? smile

I saw the info about Episode 12 on the show page, from the episode title it's basically a special episode based on a Spin-Off from the main story.

Haven't managed to go past Episode 8 yet...that Episode was worse than 7 in terms of changes to the books, infuriated me. Not sure when I am going to finish this.

Somehow, second part of season 2 is kind of *meh*

I really liked the first part, but have a hard time enjoying the second half.

Strange, I feel the opposite.

It was great show and I enjoyed every bit of it BUT.... Am I the only one noticing Tom Sturridge could be done in the show which i find very discomforting bcus I really love him being lord of dreams
I like Jacob Anderson, he's a good actor but I prefer Tom Sturridge (no shades)

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Decided to finish...

These last few episodes felt like someone read the books and took brief notes of what is happening. This person than handed the notes to someone who did not read the books and has no idea of the story...this person dropped the notes, lost some and mixed up a few of the pages and then adapted the story into a screenplay. Every nuance, notion and meaning the graphics in the graphic novels brought with them is also missing.

The only possitive thing I can say is that it was visually OK.
Well it is what it is and the Special Episode probably won't make much of a difference for me.

Overall 2/5 in my opinion.

The only thing I can hope for is that in some not so distant future someone in Japan decides to make an anime adaption of the story - then we will have a proper on-screen version of the books smile.

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

The first part of season 2 was great as I was on the edge of my seat, but the last 4 episodes were very weak.

Spoiler

When they introduced Daniel, the season went downhill, as the idea that it is possible to transmute Dream to anyone born inside a dream, is so arbitrary and lacks so much explanatory scope, that I lost interest.  The time it took the Kindly Ones to settle the debt of Dream breaking the law also felt arbitrary.  The idea of Dream dying by the hand of his sister, Death, felt like a paradox as she should also be held to account for the death of her brother, as is the law, no?  Death itself should've died at the end of the season.

Episode 12 made me almost fall asleep three times, uff that was boring.

I was expecting some big finale… this wasn’t even half decent. What a let down.

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Ep 12 was pleasant and enjoyable, but not exciting. It certainly wasn't what I expected. I, too, thought there'd be some big enlightenment-type of finale or a "time passed and here we are now" thing.
I will say that it kind of made me want to have stand-alone episodes of the other Endless.

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

i thought eps 5 and 6

Spoiler

the 2 Orpheus ones, were some top notch storytelling. Totally immersive stuff. I will be seriously bummed if this show turns to crap from here as alluded to in the maddeningly

unspoilered posts in this thread.
