+1

Maybe he will get redeemed if they flesh out why.  Maybe some background into what made him this way.  But as things are, he is my least favorite Horse and is starting to detract from my enjoyment of the show.

Re: Slow Horses

I was taken by how it all came about or why he's being targeted. I thought I may have missed something previously. His personality hasn't really bothered me that much.

Spoiler

The hot chick... well, he was totally blinded but it was kind of funny.

I'm hoping they're going somewhere and there's some adventure in between. I'm just staying tuned and going with the flow.

Re: Slow Horses

I think he's a great character. I mean same as Lamb, why would he change or grow in his personality?
I don't think any character in this show has ever really changed which I think is interesting on it's own.

But I get the point, for me it's River who I can't stand smile

I think Robby's character was perfect for

Spoiler

everyone to immediately get suspicious when they found out he was going out with a beautiful woman smile

Roddy Ho is perfect in being like he was supposed to be, a really pillocky pillock! big_smile

I liked River in the beginning, but right now it's totally unclear to me where his character is going...

The difference for me is that it isnt hard to understand why Lamb has become what he is.  And after all, he is the boss, so he has the luxury to act as he pleases.

With Roddy, he just acts out seemingly for no reason and without explanation to the point where it borders on affecting the performance of his job.  And one would think that it would be Lamb's job to not let anyone's attitude affect their work, except his own of course smile

Watched 5x2, 5x3

Spoiler

Looks like the real MI5 is to look foolish again while the slow horses get the job done. Claude Whelan is as stupid as they come.

Isnt the Slow Horses supposed to be the incompetent ones?

Exactly, all the characters have horrid flaws which is why they are where they are. It's brilliant.

Just because Roddy is flawed like the others doesn't mean he is a good character or entertaining to watch is my point.

I think it was in Season 1 where they said that he ended up in Slough House not because he screwed up but just because he was so annoying nobody wanted to work with him in Regent Park anymore smile

I bet Shirley will get killed sooner or later with all her running around. She deserves to get paid more than the others. I cant wait to see how they manage the accident in eps 4

Well done, I liked it. smile

Spoiler

In reality though, I'd say there's a 100% chance that MI5 uses network segmentation - so such a dramatic compromise wouldn't happen in real life. cool

Sorry that it doesn't work for you. (See Episodes Rating Chart at https://next-episode.net/slow-horses and IMDb's ratings by episode). Whelan is part of the comic relief. smile

I get that many like it.  Those that do, I am glad for you.  Lots of shows I like, others may not. No harm, no foul.

I am a serious guy and like serious shows.  Comedies I don't bother trying to watch to begin with. I don't comment here about them either. I like humor actually.  When it seems natural.  When its the type of thing one encounters in real life from time to time. But when it seems forced.  When it seems characters are trying to be funny, then its not entertaining to me anymore.  Its just silly or stupid.

I keep commenting on this show because in the early seasons, it was serious enough that I liked it.  I liked the humor all those flawed characters brought.  But the show has evolved into something else, and the entrance of the Claude Whelan character was the turining point for me.

Re: Slow Horses

There is too much Claude Whelan. When the comic aside becomes centre then it is going downhill. There is only room for one star or anti-star and it aint Claude Whelan. It is like making Falstaff the main character of the plays he is in

Re: Slow Horses

Another great season! Gary Oldman is so so good, and his character is brilliant.

The seasons are all becoming pretty similar, but if the execution is always good I'm not complaining (for now).
