After shooting its pilot back in January, NBC has decided to go ahead and give it a full series order.

Revealed by Deadline on Friday, the reboot will pick up in the modern day and continue where the original Quantum Leap left off. At the end of its fifth and final season, Bakula’s time traveling lead, Dr. Sam Beckett, learned that his quest to travel through time and right various injustices throughout history by leaping into other people’s bodies would be an eternal one, or at least until everyone saw that secret ending. In the reboot, a new team led by Raymond Lee’s (Kevin Can Fuck Himself) Dr. Ben Seong has been put together in the hopes of uncovering the secrets of Beckett and his Quantum Leap accelerator. Joining Lee in the series includes Caitlin Bassett, Mason Alexander Park, Ernie Hudson, and Nanrisa Lee.

Though it seems like the new Quantum Leap would be about finding a way to bring Beckett back, it doesn’t appear that the character’s return is in the cards. Bakula is serving as one of the reboot’s executive producers alongside Bellisario...

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I'm a biog fan of Quantum Leap, but it's very of it's time.  Not sure how I feel about this "reboot", but I'll definitely watch it.  Thanks for making me aware smile

2020.  Meh.

yes , a lot of these shows are just as much about the actors and their performances. eg Star Trek - though this has managed to escape Kirk/Bones/Spock because of new story lines. It is hard to see how a new version could be much different than the old

Oh boy..

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

@Deke is right... Oh Boy... is the only feeling to have right now about this.

They just released more information about the show, won't waste my time with this.

The latest synopsis expands on the above, stating, “Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it.” Ben is joined on his journey by decorated Army veteran Addison (Caitlin Bassett), appearing in the form of a hologram that only Ben can see and hear.

Herbert “Magic” Williams (Ernie Hudson) helms the highly confidential operation; a no-nonsense career military man, he knows that his bosses won’t be happy once they learn about the breach of protocol.

Filling out the rest of the team based at headquarters is Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit “Ziggy,” and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), who heads up digital security for the project.

The series follows Ben as he leaps from life to life, correcting mistakes of the past. It becomes clear to the team that they are on a thrilling journey; however, Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jenn know that if they want to solve the mystery of Ben’s leap and bring him home, they must act quickly or risk losing him forever.

So basically this is going to absolutely suck balls. There is no way I can see that they will be able to make this have anywhere near the impact that the original had. I'm bored of it and I haven't even watched an episode yet.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I'll reserve judgement until I've watched a few episodes.

What, from the above synopsis, makes you think this will "suck balls" so much?

2020.  Meh.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

If the actors have good chemistry and the writing is good this could be excellent!

8

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I'll be giving it a go, I can always stop watching after an episode or two if it does suck. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I'm just really feeling disappointed in the synopsis of the show is all, Quantum Leap was one of my family's favorite shows while I was growing up.. I don't want them to destroy those memories of this great show by creating a piece of steaming crap and calling it Quantum Leap.

Well... Since you have no control about how anyone names their shows, just don't let them destroy those memories - however good or bad the new show turns out to be. smile

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

The opening narration just got leaked:

"Piggybacking on the time travel work of someone else, Dr. Ben Seong stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished.

Finding himself going woke in the past, getting triggered and offended, and driven by frothing rage to change history to better reflect his views.

His only guide on this journey is Addison, an SJW from his own time, who supports him in the form of a hologram that only Ben can see, hear, and empathize.

And so, Dr. Seong finds himself leaping from life to life, righting great wrongs and cancelling the bigots, and hoping each time that his next Tweet will be a viral one."

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

LOL, I'm guessing that is going to turn out to be pretty accurate.

I wonder how many episodes in the first season will be him encountering racism and showing just how terrible white men are?

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

There's a fine line between thought-provoking and preachy woke trash, hopefully, it won't cross the line.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I fear it's a one season wonder, doubt it'll get a second season.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

nope just watching first eps. Just old wine in new bottles. I dont do this often I will not be watching any more of this. Q.L was any way just a formula to connect disparate stories with no real connection between them. hmm I didnt make it to the end of eps 1. Revisiting old series is usually a sign of lack of creativity.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

101, so garbage and campy it's funny.  Exactly what I expected.

-Not only fake exaggerated dialogue throughout without one believable character, but,
-Ridiculously tight studio close ups. (Don't move that camera back or we won't be able to afford it.)
-That garbage over exposed TV color palette. (Why can't they just leave the hue alone?)
-There's this needless B story with the "Operation Team" back in the present. "You spend enough time in DC, you hear things."!!!???  Like WTF?  (As though Ziggy wasn't good enough?)
-Shoe string budget, can literally see the green screen outline in the van, but wait, was that a digital explosion???
-The whole production feels thrown together last minute, which is true to form to the original.

Spoiler

-You leave your loved ones behind because you think it's worth it and you think it has to be done? Like wtf?  So, you're a jerk?  I can't really cheer for that, but "go science".

Love the old cars, especially that massive Buick back in good old 1985, but this episode wasn't paced well enough to get to know Sam or the time period he jumped into, which is the whole hook of the show, you know, feeling like you've been transported into a new era, as it just felt rushed, and I blame the pointless B story.

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

Couldn't even make it past the first 10 minutes neutral

23

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I had to give up after 20 minutes. Garbage.

24

Re: Quantum Leap (2022)

I loved it! I will keep watching it. I love the diversity in the show and that it is not a reboot but a continuation 30 years later.
