Directed by Mohamed Diab, this action-adventure series features a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him are distinct characters who appear against a backdrop of Egyptian iconography.

I'll watch 1x1 with virtually zero (specific) expectations. smile

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

I try to watch everything expecting it to be the worst show ever made. Better to be pleasantly surprised than sorely disappointed. Ep 1 of this bored the hell out of me but I'm hoping they'll get to something interesting now that they've got the intro stuff out of the way.

Spoiler

Ethan Hawke's villain seems pretty cool at least.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Wow, wow, WOW! yikes I was skeptical when I saw the great 9.x IMDb rating before watching, but it is fully deserved! I'm pretty sure this was the best 1x1 episode I watched this year. smile

What a fun episode, had a good amount of action - and 'implied' action that wasn't shown, but which worked really well IMHO -, sprinkled with a dose of violence. <3

Oscar Isaac is so good!

Spoiler

Like most US shows and movies do, they screwed up European license plates (I noticed that in https://next-episode.net/the-falcon-and … er-soldier too IIRC)... and the 'German' town looked like it was a place in Eastern Europe made to look German (in a slightly weird, old-fashioned way), but I'm willing to forgive them. cool

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

The first episode kind of reminded me of the beginning of venom, with the voice in his head. I liked it, knowing it was the setup episode I allowed a bit of leeway and found it entertaining. I'll definitely be watching more.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

I know virtually nothing about the character apart from the split personality and the ties to Egyptian mythology... I really enjoyed it, something different from the usual Marvel stuff. Looking forward to see how it progresses.

Ya, I liked it too, interesting premise.  Disclaimer: I've never been a fan of Oscar Isaac (over exposed) but his accent is great in this and he's very believable in this role, whereas his other stuff, I tend to see through, but this, I like.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Maybe I am not the target audience... and well saturated with Marvel content... to a point where I just can't stand that one more super-hero movie or series. They have to make something very special to make me enjoy another super-hero themed show, like the fist season of The Boys or Peacemaker. Moonknight.... well... I found the first episode very boring and just didn't engage me in any way. Maybe I give it another shot with the next few episodes, but so far.... meh.

It was supposed to be a Swiss town, but filmed in Szentendre (Hungary). Actually there are quite a lot of villages in Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Czech, Slovakia or Slovenia which still look exactly like that. Yeah, a bit old fashioned and out of time but that what makes it very attractive for tourists and even the people living there just like it that way. Obviously they did some job on the signage which considering it is a US production, wasn't too bad, guess htey had a native German speaker on the team.

I wish they'd dropped the first two episodes, there just wasn't enough in that first ep.

Yeah, I totally get the attractiveness of real old-fashioned whatever, but this was a bit off... cool If it was a native German speaker on the team, he had moved to the US at age 6. big_smile

While the mountains near that town looked like a Swiss setting, the 'German' details had mistakes nobody from the area would make (and which could have been prevented with a few minutes on Google or Wikipedia). Small mistakes, like the formatting of the phone number on the truck, or the incorrect number plates, or even the chicken truck. I never saw something like that driving around anywhere in Western Europe! Maybe in parts of Eastern Europe or Turkey. cool But since the average US viewer has little knowledge about these details most won't notice a thing. smile

Hmm! I didn't enjoy 1x2 that much. Hope 1x3 will be as good as 1x1.

But the Egyptian rap (end credits) was cool. cool

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

102, I love how playful and fun this show is.  Hilarious suit he comes up with!

Spoiler

"He's just a fancy drunk!"

lol lolz.  Maybe it's just my love of Ancient Aliens and Egyptian conspiracy theory crap, (and the big budget), but this show lands with me for sure.  Oscar Isaac's accents are great.  That said, Jim Carrey would crush this role!

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

I wasn't sure about 1x01 until the scene at the end.
Like lighton, 1x02 really didn't do it for me at all
Hopefully it picks up again in 1x03 or it gets dropped.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

I wasn't sure after episode 1 so I gave 2 a try, I shouldn't have bothered. This show isn't for me so now dropped from my watch list.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

It’s only six episodes, so I’ll stick with it.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Seriously, is every episode gonna feel like there's just not enough to it... I'm not saying it's bad necessarily or I don't like it, just I feel totally lost and not in a good way... more in a disconnected way (if that makes sense)?!

If this wasn't a MARVEL show with characters I know from comics I don't think I'd still be watching (or at least I would prioritize it differently) because nothing that I've seen on screen has been very compelling (to me). So far hmm

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Meh, dropped. 01x02 didn't bring anything which made me change my mind. I do not like the setting, do not care for any of the characters and so far was just bored out.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

I don't hate it, continue for now.

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

103...uhhhh, maybe too much advancement of plot, but with only 6 eps, I get why...

20

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

The show feels so hectic and incoherent. This may be the first Marvel dud for me, in the TV show space.

@mrverene

Haha, well landed, it's the only way to watch Marvel.  Channel your inner Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot with non stop color commentary.  "Kay's worked on the kill floor, she knows where to deliver the blow."  lol

Usually I do that when it's really boring or something is so bad that I have to make fun of it, but this last episode 103 was so busy and jumped over so much plot so quickly I was too lost to even heckle it.  Poorly paced.

Also, it's so silly to have a trial inside the Great Pyramid as though it were a court for "gods", when we all know the pyramids are just healing machines with activation chambers for spiritual enlightenment as they are part of one complex of love/light intent/sharing, and that to use the healing aspects properly it was important to have a purified and dedicated channel, or energizer, for the love/light of the Infinite Creator to flow through; thus the initiatory method was necessary to prepare the mind, the body, and the spirit for service in the Creator’s work. The two are integral. Duh!

Straight from The Ra Contact - Volume 1 - 3:15

....that's the kind of color commentary that I do while watching....

Way off.  I don't have any colorful suits.  I was going for a play on the Bohners from A Mighty Wind.

Something like Terry's answer at the end of this:"It's Whoey" A Mighty Wind

Re: Moon Knight [Drama, Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

I was thinking about your commentary being colorful more than your wardrobe or your vibration but sure. And Terry and Laurie's metaphysics fits right in with the all-white besuited Moon Knight being just terrible.
