Topic: DMZ [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi, Military/War]

The show is set in the near future and centers on a young man trapped in Manhattan, which has been turned into a demilitarized zone (DMZ) after a second American civil war.

The trailer makes me tentatively hopeful. CGI looks good, the acting... we'll see. I hope HBO delivers!

Re: DMZ [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi, Military/War]
Looks like a weak and half baked premise for the "Man in the High Castle" fans (as it's an entire show with an American DMZ), imo, but perusing HBO after watching the trailer, "Our Flag Means Death" looks hilarious!

I'm willing to give it a go, at least the first episode anyway, it may surprise me but I doubt it lol.

Episode 1 was ok I guess, acting and CGI weren't bad just didn't really do it for me. I may watch more when I run out of better shows.

Re: DMZ [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi, Military/War]
I watched half of the first episode and gave up on it, it just did not hold my interest. The story line was slow and a bit convoluted, acting and cgi so so. YMMV

I read the comic, or at least started it and gave up. It made so little of an impression I'm not sure which. Will give it a shot if I hear really good things but seems like I'm not going to.

Re: DMZ [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi, Military/War]
I watched all 4 episodes and it held my interest the entire time. Maybe a little like "Escape from New York " meets "Man in the High Castle, wrapped with 1 of those "find my son" dramas. Of course if you generally don't like Rosario Dawson, you won't like it. Benjamin Bratt does a decent job with his character. Overall, I disagree with the IMDb rating [5.2] and the other negative ratings. I'm usually pretty close with IMDb, but not always. I'd go with a 6.9. Okay I guess you could say 7, but barely.

I'm in the "not always" camp too, but should have trusted IMDb (and my gut after watching the trailer) this time. I was quite disappointed while watching 1x1. More like a 5/10 than 6/10 for me. I'm with Tasviewer here, "I may watch more when I run out of better shows." Something that will probably never happen. The show had all the right ingredients in theory, but somehow the end result got screwed up. The different gangs reminded me of https://next-episode.net/daybreak - incidentally another show that I stopped watching. Fun fact: Mamie Gummer - who plays "Rose, a jaded medic who tirelessly cares for the ill and injured" - looked somewhat familiar... I googled "Mamie Gummer sister" and found out that Grace Gummer of https://next-episode.net/mr.-robot fame is her sister! And found out that they are Meryl Streep's daughters!

Re: DMZ [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi, Military/War]
two episodes so far, not bad, but not great either, it borrows from "The warriors", "Escape from NY". And a samll wink to Romeo and juliet? lets wait for the remaining episodes to see how it turns.

Tried first ep and passed on the rest. Too slow and predictable. Every show has some clichés but DMZ drowns in them
