g371's post said nothing about a black woman. Just a show link and a Wikipedia link followed by words that don't make sense.

Ok, so it seems they've decided to cast "Caroline Henderson" as "Jarl Haakon" ...its really wirtten as "Haakon Jarl" but whatever...now..."Håkon Jarl" was really named "Håkon Sigurdsson Ladejarl" where "Lade" is a part of the city today called "Trondheim" (and "Nidaros" inbetween). I actually live close to this city and I have a hobbyist interest in Viking history so for me....to cast a black woman as the role for "Håkon Ladejarl"..its just waaay beyond ridiculous...on so many levels.... and to be honest "I actually find it somewhat offensive"........ But then again; as g371 put it: Also what makes this worse than usual, as far as I understand, in Scandinavian culture that historical viking is a significant figure - so, woke triple standards here (cultural appropriation does not matter this time).
..and yeah...Håkon Ladejarl was in all practical terms the King of Norway for 25ish years so he was pretty significant. Fun fact: Our next in line to be King is also named Håkon and will take over after Harald when he steps back.

Also they had every chance to not make her out of place, since it's plausible that somehow there could be a black women. When I first saw images, I assumed story line would be similar as for that English monk in Vikings. This mildly smells like some immigration bs, that actress is Swedish. Tho that fact probably pisses off Norwegians even more They should take one step further and also in this show add some lines about how women of color are not allowed to make mistakes like everybody else + something related to wage gap

I watched the first two. Uneven but there are some quite funny lines. The second one was better than the first so I will watch one more and decide.

Yep, you have a natural talent of reading the title of the forum topic and connecting super obvious dots If it's Netflix it's either Oprah Winfrey played by Silvester Stallone, the A in A-Team stands for a new letter in LGBTQ or in a family husband is white, wife is black, one adopted child is Asian, another Middle Eastern so that you have to make a mental note which group of people is grouped together Also every bad police officer is white and every other black character has a mandatory struggle(s) unrelated to story line.
Remember back when all terrorists were middle aged white men with english accents?........goog times.....good times.

Ironically, this for real is one piece of the puzzle, these days fighting back Russian zombies on internet have heard already a couple hundreds insult attempts which in some dimension enter this topic. And also when studios started banning them because of the sanctions, same argument, we won't be missing this crap Also if you scroll back to 2014, then all this mess started with the fact that one part wanted to go in the direction of the West, but the other in opposite - and that opposite side is the one which list this topic as a danger to their culture.

I don't use the term even though I likely agree with a lot of the things people who use it believe. I think staying cool and civil while standing your ground makes you the stronger person. The term also injects personalities into what should be a rational discussion. I have always felt that whoever uses an ad hominem argument automatically loses the debate.

Kinda. It's also important not to confuse having a discussion with having a debate. In a debate, you are trying to convince some third outside party that holds authority over both competing parties of your point. This rarely ever happens in online conversations, because who would that authority even be? The internet is not a parliament. In a proper discussion, people have to talk to each other. It's about finding solutions. If we all just drop our point trying to be witty and run without listening, nobody wins anything. If somebody tells us we are being an asshole, then maybe we are. Or maybe not. But either way, we can at least try to find out why they think that, and see if there's a way to express our beliefs that pisses them off at least slightly less. Or hey, sometimes we might even realize we are actually wrong about something. You never know. Worst case, we can still simply agree to disagree. No need to always skip ahead to that point immediately.

Sad, but could probably be explained by what I found on https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news … ings-there : Amazon, meanwhile, has also pursued extensive Chinese business. It agreed to the Chinese government’s request to stop allowing customer ratings and reviews on its Chinese-language website after a collection of Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s speeches and writings received a negative review, Reuters reported in December. The outlet said Amazon’s compliance with the CCP order was “part of a deeper, decade-long effort by the company to win favor in Beijing to protect and grow its business.”
And since IMDb.com is owned by Amazon...

Imo they are too touchy with Winnie, before the war AliExpress already got greedy and started to push delivery prices like it's not China, a couple shady China moves and bam, we are back were we were. All this has a potential to end up the same as purchasing gas from orcs. There are "friends" you should not depend on.
