Re: Squid Game [Drama, Action, Adventure, Mystery, Thriller]
Wow! I'm happy to have stumbled upon this gem from Korea. 1x1 was intense... It's not only one of the best Netflix shows ever (so far), it's - potentially - also the episode with the highest number of individual kills in the history of TV shows. Watch the trailer (or teaser) and decide if it's for you. It's NOT for everyone.

Seems similar to another Japan show; Alex In Wonderland. And let us not forget it was an earlier Japanese show the started all the subsequent "last one standing" shows.

Alex in Wonderland? Can't find a show with that title. Hmm... I only vaguely remember a Japanese movie based on this idea, but I don't recall the title. Btw, 1x2 was less good than 1x1, but the way it was set up, maybe it was the calm before the storm. Will continue watching.

I think Suasor meant Alice in Borderland.

My bad, should have looked up. All I remembered was that it was a trick name based on how the Japanese sounded to English speakers. There is supposed to be a second season.

It didn't remind me at all of https://next-episode.net/alice-in-borderland-2020. I like Squid Game better, which also has the higher IMDb rating.

Re: Squid Game [Drama, Action, Adventure, Mystery, Thriller]
I really liked Alice in Borderland, let's see if Squid Game can surpass it for me. On IMDB Alice has 5 times more ratings tho, let's see if Squid has still a better rating after it reaches the same amount. But Squid game is already in my watchlist but right now i'm still in queue to finish other shows like Sweet Tooth, Lupin, Good Girls, Sex Education, Money Heist, Lucifer and movies like Fate and Awake. Way to many shows out there to watch or maybe i should start to watch them all at 1x25 speed or something. O_o

Well, I really liked it. Massive shock in the first episode, a little slower after that but building to a great end. ▼Spoiler You didn't actually see the old man get shot, just heard it. A good twist I can see a season 2 for this. Here's hoping.

Re: Squid Game [Drama, Action, Adventure, Mystery, Thriller]
Finished season 1. The show turned out to be less awesome than I thought, but I still recommend it to everyone who likes the trailer. I read that the show is quite popular and there's a good chance for another season.

Re: Squid Game [Drama, Action, Adventure, Mystery, Thriller]
I hope they do a 2nd season. I finished "Alice in Borderland" yesterday. Loved it, but you really need to suspend disbelief (I did a lot of shouting at the screen) while "Squid Game" could possibly happen. Maybe. Next up: Battle Royale and the rest of Witch's Diner.

Re: Squid Game [Drama, Action, Adventure, Mystery, Thriller]
Finally finished this. Liked it more than Alice. My question throughout was 'who exactly are we supposed to be rooting for?'. ▼Spoiler And my answer of 'clearly not the lead' was borne out in the end. The lead is still unbelievably selfish even after all of that. He leaves the kid in the orphanage for a year, does nothing for his mother who's either stuck in China or the North, depending on which episode we're going by, doesn't help the homeless guy himself, doesn't help the guy in the same situation out of his terrible life, just takes the card which he knows they'll replace, and then disappoints his kid again to go on a personal quest to find out about the people running the game. The only real growth here is he doesn't care anymore so he can have a K-pop haircut for his midlife crisis.

I know, right?! I tend to assume we'll get fairly tidy, happy endings. This one floored me and excited me.

and an encore? Thought Squid Game was twisted? Creator of the gory hit is writing a new film called Killing Old People Club - and says it will be even MORE violent than the Netflix series
