Gave this a burl on the strength of comments here. 1st 3 ep's were some sumptuous shit but ep 4 the flashback one where the Rhodesian girl has a giant 60-minute cry on her stupid Waterworld planet was so tedious I may have given up on the while thing now

Gale isn't even in ep 4. I think you're actually talking about s01ep5 which is indeed the episode which builds her back story. It is a slower episode, but all I can say is that the building of backstory is necessary to 3 dimensional characters. I'm sorry it lacked the 'action' that the ADHD populace seems to need on a 24/7 basis in their media.

Everyone here does seem to love Foundation, but my concentration just wanders off while I watch it.  Too much going on, too much nonsense, I just drift away...

2020.  Meh.

I think most people dont mind drama and solid back stories etc, but I've never been so bored with a character as Gaal or Gale or whatever. I blame it mostly on bad casting, she has no charisma, I feel nothing for her "hardships" and she's like a plank of wood with tears. Just endless whining.

I guess thats my main problem with the show, it's hard to get 100% invested when you dont like most of the characters. And it's such a shame, since they present an awesome universe with cool tech and ideas.

Still gonna watch if it gets renewed, need my sci fi fix.

Spoiler

One thing I am not quite clear about... did the Terminus people die and were copied into the vault or were they physically in there? If it's the former, then I guess they really did end up building an encyclopedia: themselves.

Interesting question...

Spoiler

I just assumed they were somehow rescued physically, even if it wasn't logical because the planet-destroying ship was going down fast with everybody still just standing around and looking up.

Spoiler

I'm guessing there's some kind of brain scan thing going on here. The vault had a disruptive field that could cause someone to pass out as far away as the colony was. Could have been scanning their brains the whole time. That would be interesting because then the vault could also contain all the dead members of Foundation too. Or some kind of star trek beam me use Scotty tech.

Spoiler

I kinda assumed the null field expanded and somehow gathered up all the people reasonable close to it. But yeah could be it just downloaded them.

Yeah, she's kinda like James Holden of The Expanse. Miller, Amos, and even Naiome were better actors. Holden was... poorly cast imo.

Cleanup on isle 7, cleanup on isle 7.

Yeah, well, actually, I'm happy they cleaned up the cast a bit because it felt to me like the story has been going too wide instead of progressing.

I would like to see another season and with it bring the show to an end.

With only one more season, it might feel a bit rushed. But with two more reasons, it might work out nicely.

100%! Holden and Naomi had the worst chemestry i've ever seen. But luckily the supporting cast was great, I would even add the "rapist" to your list.
The Expanse also have something else that draws you inn, I cant really put my finger on it, but it may have something to do with the awesome realism, like space it self was it's own character and added suspense and a real sense of danger.
The Foundation rely too much on a boring cast to drive the show.

Day/Dusk are basically carrying the show, but I really like Harry as well, he was good in the Expanse too.

I really hope this is a career maker for Day, he's a phenomenal actor. The visuals have been pretty excellent in Foundation so far, and honestly the story being told across thousands of years is really really cool as a concept, so I'm hooked despite the... wooden acting of a few characters.
