If you want to see the result of totally AI production... Watch an old Tom Selleck movie called "Looker".  Surprisingly accurate for 1981 - where models and actors get scanned they their 3d likeness can go out and earn them money by being in multiple shoots at once.

They didn't lose him entirely he's still on the production team. He's just not in charge anymore which I agree is worrying but I'll temper my expectations. This season also had it's budget cut comparative to other seasons, and it was the best one, so again, not super duper worried yet. I agree this is concerning though.

Cool! Thanks for letting me know. Definitely going to be interesting to see more and more of this. Like I said, I think one day you'll be able to plug in an Ebook select your actors and have a custom show for you to watch, which again, would be so cool.

I actually see an initial large uptick in people being employed in the animation business due to the creation of more new studios. This will raise the floor of who can enter the animation field seriously and will give a huge rise to independent makers, who will be able to use these and other developing powerful tools to get into animation easier, faster, and better.

But yes, eventually AI and robots are going to functionally replace humanity at just about everything. It looks like we may see it in our lifetimes too whether we want to or not. It's not exactly something that can be resisted.

Its been a very long time since I read the books, but I recall it was the later books I liked the best.  So it might be that best part of the Foundation story is yet to come.

My bad for not responding. The first few books were originally not even be intended to be a part of a series. It wasn't until book... 3? 4? that Asimov decided they were all going to be the Foundation series. So, yeah, his grander story wasn't even in mind for the first few books which is why they were kinda meh. It's been... whew probably 20 years since I read them so I'm pretty fuzzy too. I'm gonna do a re read after, I don't want to color my view of the show too much. And I remembered this twist, but I'm pretty fuzzy on the details of what comes next.


Freaking 2027 premier on the next season. We're never gonna get through the books. I hope they get the projected 7 seasons that have been rumored. We'll see... in 6-8 years I guess.

Not the only person pissy about these streaming seasons.  10 episodes a year and it takes them 18-30 months in between.

Remember 20+ years ago when Star Trek: Next Generation could do 24 episodes a year and start every year on time in September?  Seems like all this amazing technology for special effects must be garbage if it has slowed them down by a factor of 50.  Color me with the crazy crayon, but I would have thought all that tech and budget should mean better effects at the same pace: More quality but 20+ years tech evolution should = same production schedule.

No you're totally right. It seems like shows like Trek and Farscape had a much more robust season with far, far less downtime between seasons. Not to mention SG-1. This 1-3 year downtime between seasons is killing me for a lot of shows. On the flipside, TV shows are better than movies a lot of times these days, but damn I think I'd be happy with more content and less quality, as long as the writing is good. I can leave a little to the imagination.

Oof. Not having a ton of confidence in season 4 which is still a frustrating year off from now.

Major budget cuts, the loss of the showrunner, who's basically said his vision is no longer being followed, and a totally new writing team with decorated pasts as writers for Krypton and The Flash... this does not bode well.
