Topic: Superman & Lois

https://static.next-episode.net/tv-shows-images/huge/superman-and-lois.jpg

Superman & Lois follows the world's most famous superhero and comic books' most famous journalist, as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society.

Any one watching this?

Seems a dull show nothing really happens or if it does  almost as a by the way; too slow for me. A shame as the guy who plays superman did a pretty good job in Supergirl and deserved a spin off

Re: Superman & Lois

Not watching it, trailer didn't do it for me.

I pretty much gave up on CW shows, I was disappointed too often...

Re: Superman & Lois

I'm watching it.  I find it entertaining enough, but then I am a superhero fan (especially DC) from way back.

So far it's nothing special, more CW drama than superheroes.

Re: Superman & Lois

Its Smallville what... 9.0 now? This time with more reused plot particular to Smallville 1.0 rather than just the usual who-gets-to-go-into-danger and OMG-lying-is-bad plots all the other CW iterations use over and over. That said, it's not as painful as Legends or Flash or Supergirl. At least not yet.

I am a huge superhero fan

I am watching it however, I am struggling to not fall asleep somewhere it has lost the action of Superman with all the drama of dialogue of family life. I hope they give it another season as the actor who plays Superman in Supergirl nails the character he deserves a spin off.

Re: Superman & Lois

As iconic as the whole Superman and Lois thing is in DC canon, it's unfortunate when every second episode a new character is introduced and politically designed to meet the requirements of left wing ultra inclusive programming directors. Characters that typically don't or didn't ever exist in the original comic book canon.

I am also not happy with a hand ful of episodes followed by a mid-season break that runs for a month. Very poor form.

I am happy to suffer through the bastardisation of the sci-fi and super hero offerings that are currently out there, as there is so little else of interest. So far Disney+'s offerings have been quality. Something CW/DC need to look at for longevity of their brand.

If DC actually produced graphic novels based on the TV series, they flat out wouldn't sell. In contrast the only reason the TV series hasn't failed is because of the plethora of TV series out there that are worse.

That's what's making it the most painful for me. Personal preference but I'll take poorly written melodrama over poorly written camp any day. But if you like it you might be in luck as both Supergirl and Flash have already had their own time travel pseudo-comedies this season.

like to name a few Disney+ shows worth the bother I can look up?

Re: Superman & Lois

well we are at eps 9 and things are starting to make sense and happen. But 9 episodes? I ask you. I hope this is a 18 eps thing other wise it will be a joke

11

Re: Superman & Lois

eps 11 and things are getting good but I mean 11 eps to get there talk about slow burn.

Re: Superman & Lois

I kinda like the phasing, in fact I like the drama and character building more than the overall arcing story.

And I think the actor for Superman is doing great, especially how he display his emotions, both anger and more sympathic feelings etc. In both Clark and Superman form.

seems like there will be a 2nd season

I just hope they dont get their mitts on Stargirl

I wouldnt put any thing past The CW doing some thing like that to the shows. Though Geoff Johns might resist in Stargirls case

Re: Superman & Lois

wtf - why the hell do they need to do this to all our comics! It not relevant to the story line, just leave the characters as they are.

Brothers! What we do in life...Echoes in Eternity!

Re: Superman & Lois

I mean, these days I just ignore everything DC comics does that's not connected to Batgirl (Cassie AKA The Black Bat), Batgirl (Steph AKA Spoiler) or written by Tom King... especially after they killed their VERTIGO imprint! And don't even get me started on the Wonder Comics imprint, I mean even when they swipe from MARVEL they screw it up... Freakin' DC!

I actually recently decided to re-read the Tim Drake Robin series... good times!

That being said, I love what they're doing here on Superman & Lois with twins. I think that's very interesting... I was actually hoping, at first, it would be a proximity thing with the brothers (like one would only have powers if they touched or were near) but that might be a bit too convoluted for a TV series on the CW.

Still I really enjoyed where the show went this first season and I hope it keeps up the quality... unlike every other CWDCU series (except for Black Lightning which was excellent all the way through and Legends of Tomorrow which actually got sooooooooo much better as it went on).

I wonder if the Super Family will be in the FLASH crossover this year... because really my only issue (I wouldn't call it a complaint), this is the same issue I have with the MCU, is even though Clark clearly lives on a Earth with Supergirl as well as a bunch of other supers yet almost none of them are even mentioned in this show. Don't get me wrong I liked seeing Diggle, but that was it... really?!?! This story is about Krypton and Clark's Kryptonian cousin is in flying distance... come on folks!

Now I'm not saying the CW should have filled this show with guests or anything (except for 100% Clark's actual cousin who should have at the very least been mentioned) 'cause it would have been nice to get more of a sense of the larger universe this series is a part of... like even if it's just kids in school with FLASH gear! Or in the background arguing over who would win in a race Supergirl or Superman? Or, gosh forbid, have someone say something like, 'Kara can't help because she's stuck in outer space' or whatevs... I mean I don't even watch Supergirl any more (see the aforementioned trajectory of CWDCU series) so if she was in space or suck in the 31st Century I wouldn't know if this series doesn't tell me.. just sayin'.

I don't think anyone considers ANYTHING thats in a DC or Marvel comic in the last 5-10 years as canon...

I mean, in 2016 DC did do a soft re-booted ( Rebirth ) after the 2011 New 52 hard canon reboot but the N52 had it's own canon as does Rebirth, however the current concept DC is running with is the OMNIVERSE which is the idea that all continuities are valid ( Pre Crisis, Post Crisis, N52, Rebirth, etc... ) but basically that's more a guideline then a hard fast rule, for instance the status quo canon for most books is Rebirth.

That being said they are doing some separate things like Future State ( taking place in a possible future ).

As for MARVEL they have never really wavered from their continuous continuity... pretty much everything that's happened in MARVEL comics from it's inception, and in some cases before, is 100% canon.

Though there are some exceptions like Next Wave: Agents of HATE ( which is in it's own world ).

Personally I have been a Marvelite since I was a kid and still read a bunch of their books but while I used to love me some DC too, that 2011 reboot really soured the universe for me.  Everything became like '1990's extreme' ( remember those extreme guys from Harold & Kumar... well image them as comic book writers and that was N52 roll ). Don't get me wrong MARVEL has issues for me too, like how they keep trying to make the comics into the MCU... comic book Iron Man used to be nothing like the movie version... used to, being the operative phrase hmm

Anyway, hope that helps make some sense of the big two's continuities/canon cool

So let me see if I understand this. People are worried that the offspring of two entirely different species is gay? That's about as internets as it gets.

Re: Superman & Lois

So, I hear Lois's sister (from Supergirl) is moving to Superman & Lois!

Re: Superman & Lois

While overall I enjoyed the first season, this second season seems to be a big step backwards (only 2 episodes in of course).

My gut feeling is they are now going the more typical CW drama route more like Flash, Supergirl and Batwahman etc rather than what I felt was a little more story driven like the first few seasons of Arrow.

I hope I'm wrong
