Jupiter's Legacy follows the world's first generation of superheroes who received their powers in the 1930's. In present day they are the revered elder guard, but their superpowered children struggle to live up to the legendary feats of their parents.

I watched the pilot and it's Netflix's version of The Boys and Invincible, an adaption from Mark Millars comic, who created Kickass aswell.

So far not bad at all, not as good as The Boys just yet but it's interesting and entertaining in its own way atleast so far.

Budget is solid, CGI ranges from good to bad, acting is alright, gonna check out more.

Spoiler

The showdown battle in the pilot felt in parts a tad too long but not to bad

Yeah, it's on my list too, hope it will be good. By now I wish Netflix would release half as many shows but with twice the budget per show...

It's ok, but I'm not sure we needed yet another not-justice-league show. The first episode is pretty bad, with awful effects, but it gets better after that. It's still not great, and I'm not sure it'll get a second season with Netflix's quick cancelling trigger and the seeming lack of buzz, but it's not bad. I've not read the comic but am kind of tempted to to see if this Millar title was gutted as much as his similar one 'Wanted'.

It's OK actually.  I watched the first season and it kept me interersted.

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

For whatever reason I loved this. I was going to post the thread myself but I don't know how to put the images up etc.

Anyway, I loved the whole thing, the superhero stuff, the moral dilemma of "The Code", the action adventure/mystery arc.....the only thing I don't get is why it's called Jupiters Legacy?

Spoiler

I'm guessing they were transported to Jupiter to get their powers? Maybe I missed the reference?

The only downsides were,  I found the daughter annoying as hell and the 8 episodes went too fast. This is my personal best show of the year so far.

You must've missed that when they got transported and got their powers they were on a moon of Jupiter - could see it with the giant red eye in the background.

It seems the budget itself wasn't the issue with this show: today I read that Netflix spent $200.000.000 on those 8 episodes! yikes yikes yikes

Sure, you can't directly compare https://next-episode.net/into-the-night with this show, but I had more fun with that show, and it was only $5 million for 6 episodes. smile

I only have the final JL episode left to watch.

Okay, finished the show. A bit too 'netflixy'... sad I rate it 6.6/10. Not sad that there won't be another season.

Re: Jupiter's Legacy (Netflix, comic adaption, Superheroes)

Thanks for posting info about this show watching 2nd eps. A strange show seems like the Waltons with super powers. Only 8 eps so will see it through. The show , so far, seems to take its self too seriously. Not sure at the moment  the point of the show. I find using the capitalist steel industry and the 1930s stock market crash rather  strange as a platform to launch from.

Re: Jupiter's Legacy (Netflix, comic adaption, Superheroes)

well I have finished the 8 episodes. I think it took on too much. I would have been happy just with the 1930s story. That woulld a new angle. It would have been  far better. I found the modern day Waltons in tights ( and their gear was embarrassing?) had no real story worthy of telling. Some nice effects, but effect dont make a good show
