This trailer was just released:

Marvel Studios' Loki | Official Trailer | Disney+

I never was a big Loki fan, but this looks GOOD! smile

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

Another show with only 6 episodes. sad I found a bit more info regarding that number:

Loki will consist of only six episodes, but Feige has announced that each episode will be roughly 40-50 minutes long, similar to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Unlike WandaVision's sitcom-style 30-minute entries, this gives Loki plenty of uninterrupted time to unwind and share his time-hopping shenanigans with the audience.

Interestingly, all of Marvel's content on Disney's streaming service shares the same total runtime of about six hours. As Feige told the Television Critics Association in February, "Six hours is what we landed on as the best way to tell our story. Six hours, whether it’s six episodes, or nine shorter episodes like WandaVision. The shows aren’t inexpensive, so the per-episode cost is very high and to get that bar I was talking about."

Hmm, that math does not seem to add up  – calling 4,5 hours "about 6 hours" is a bitch of a stretch lmao

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

I wish they'd just base the runtime on how much story they have rather than the opposite. But at least they seem to have settled on a time they can prolly pull off without filler, unlike the netflix marvel series.

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

You can argue that - for example - https://next-episode.net/the-magicians had "filler" episodes, but overall it was a great show! smile Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have 8 or 10 episodes... as long as the overall quality is high. Ah well, it's their decision.

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

Well that was a surprise. I thought the other 2 shows were ok, but I thought Loki was bloody brilliant. Actually looking forward to the next episode. I could take it or leave it with the other MCU shows whether I watched them day of release or not, but with Loki; assuming it carries on like this will be on the day each week

"city morgue, you kill em, we chill em"

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

Was a good start. I'm guessing the creators really like Douglas Adams and old Dr. Who.

9

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

And Umbrella Academy.

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

Yeah, good start! A show like this must be every set designer's dream! smile Looked like they raided a 70s archive and had fun integrating it into the show. big_smile

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

I was a little bit disappointed that when they mentioned Coulson, they didn't at least describe events of AoS as a particularly bothersome variant or something. Give that show a nod.

I felt the same. But they did say after season 6/7 the show wasn't really a part of the MCU anymore. I was hoping they would mention he didn't actually die or something like that, but figured they would only reference avengers.

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

i loved how they absolutely destroyed his self worth and basically rebooted him

Yes, a nod like that would have been nice. smile But I was already surprised that they mentioned https://next-episode.net/marvels-agents-of-s.h.i.e.l.d. at all... maybe that was all the nodding they could sell internally. cool

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

To sort of play Devil's advocate here, I'm not a fan of Marvel in general. Yeah, Thor's cute and I love the Guardian's of the Galaxy movies and I watched a couple of seasons of that show with Coulson (I like him). So, from my point of view, they covered enough to give us fair-to-middling fans a basic rundown of Loki's Marvel history. It was enough to get me caught up to where and why he is where he is now.

The sets are great! Looking forward to ep 2.

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

They have to do the whole "previously on ..." so that people can get caught up.  big_smile

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

well I think the people watching the show would already know the previous storys? Trouble was each flashback was so brief just did my brain in like flashing lights, like those music videos that jump all around the place, or those film trailers.

For those people new to this I dont think they would mean much?

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

1x2

Damn... It's done so well, I was at times distracted by the visual perfection of it all! big_smile

Just the 'superstore' was weird... that low ceiling, and flowers next to shampoo next to ladders? That's too weird to be true, even for 2050! cool

And the TV with a glass front that can shatter? In 2050? Come on!

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

Not to mention Alabama not already being underwater.

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

cool

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

I have my doubts the show will be good enough for Hiddleston's talents, but let it run

I've just got off my Zoom call with Marvel executives. They were happy you allowed Disney+ to stream the remaining episodes! wink

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

1x3. Wow! Impressive what a TV show can deliver these days when it comes to visuals.

I enjoyed the episode, just this one big goof:

Spoiler

Loki and not-Loki were kicked out of the train or jumped out >5 seconds apart, but they had to walk only a few meters to meet again. Rookie mistake! big_smile

Re: Loki [Action, Adventure, Fantasy]

Hard to find shows I want to watch as I get older...

... Loki sure does deliver smile , even despite me not being a fan of superhero movies/shows.
