A darkly comic thriller.
Deep below the streets of London, descending past Temple tube in the beating heart of the city, lies a dark secret. An illegal clinic has been set up in an abandoned subterranean network of tunnels.
Daniel is a surgeon driven by personal tragedy to treat anyone who is willing to pay for medical help outside the system. Aided by Lee, a disgruntled transport employee, and Anna a guilt-ridden medical researcher, they treat a variety of increasingly desperate and highly dangerous patients, as Daniel's morality is tested to the limit.
Temple is a story of fate, chaos and consequence and asks how far you would go to save the person you love.
Adapted from the Norwegian series Valkyrien.
I've watched a lot of excellent shows recently and many of them don't have entries on the forum so I've decided to rectify that especially as the amount of people who have given them ratings on here is often under 10 so I feel the need to get the word out. A lot of them are not in English thou so if you don't do subtitles then, well, there is little hope for you.
This show is British! So those of you who can't handle subs are in luck. If you like darkly comic British thrillers anyway. Although this is apparently based on Norwegian drama Valkyrien which I would have watched first if I'd known. I've seen a few Norwegian films over the years and they have been great on the whole.
Here is a link to a trailer I'll never watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyl7O1q1R64
Mark Strong (above) as respected surgeon Daniel Milton is so devoted to saving the life of someone very dear to him that he is willing to go to any lengths, legal or not, morally bankrupt or not, to achieve his aim.
It's laugh out loud funny here and there, dark and troubling, tragic, comedically tragic, layered thickly with human intellectual emotion and some just plain emotion, as our lead characters make some very interesting moral choices. Their pasts are revealed in more and more detail as the season goes on and the intricacies of the relationships forms a major part of the plot. And I don't think it sets a foot wrong. Script, acting, production, plotting all excellent. 4.5/5 (and I don't give 5's, ever)
I really liked it. F knows if we'll see a 2nd season but it was obviously written for at least one more.
I don't like Tom Cruise, James Cameron and there's lots more to add, give me time
I don't like Star Wars or Star Trek or any superhero *hit
