Topic: Marvel Avenger Films

Not about tv programmes but the Marvel Avenger films ( MARVEL AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, UlTRON, INFINITY WAR, ENDGAME)  I was just given the blu rays of these and watched them over the week end. Does any one look at  in any detail the detailed and absurd fight scenes that take up much of the time in these films?  Take them away and what do you have? Otherwise it  is the stars strutting their  stuff? I don't know why they are so popular and get such  high ratings and  earn so much  money.

Re: Marvel Avenger Films

Probably because of likable characters, and a large marketing budget.

Re: Marvel Avenger Films

Yes, those movies are more or less average, I get more entertainment from a great TV show. But as long as a certain amount of people is willing to spend money watching those movies, more will be produced.

(I moved this thread to "Movies General Discussion".)

Re: Marvel Avenger Films

If you don't like them, that's up to you but the facts are the MCU has revolutionised modern cinematic storytelling and  it is most successful cinematic franchise in history. Virtually every other movie production studio is trying to emulate their model and success.

Sure, not all of the individual movies are amazing but the feat of telling an overarching story linking 23 seperate block buster movies over 10 years is frankly an incredible effort, one which probably won't be matched in our lifetimes.

I didn't say I don't like them, I just think many (or even most? Too lazy to check my rating history) of them are only average. Not worth paying big bucks to see them on the big screen.

We were promised flying cars for everyone... and only got super-expensive CGI action movies. cool

I agree, linking so many movies (and throwing in a TV show on top of that) is pretty cool, but nothing I would call a major achievement of humanity. big_smile

Re: Marvel Avenger Films

well the only super hero I had ever heard of was spiderman.  antman? thor? black widow? iron man? dr strange, Guardians of the Galaxy ( dont make me want to vomit)?  never heard of them before. But I have  heard of Batman and Superman of DC.

fortunately Capt America, Natasha Romanov, Iron man are gone. As for linking them all. HYDRA dont take much imagination, more a lack of imagination

Hydra seems to be the default  fall back theme. In the films I watched I suppose its the Thanos guy

I found a good  review of that

or  rather anything that will rake in all the $s

Re: Marvel Avenger Films

In the last few says I watched Captain Marvel. Far better than the Avenger films. Seeing Fury and Coulson  made younger funny. And the shape shifting alien has a strong Australian accent. Brie Larson also has some comic cred. A nice film
