Ted Lasso centers on an idealistic - and clueless - all-American football coach hired to manage an English football club - despite having no soccer coaching experience at all.

8.5/10 @ IMDb!

I've only watched 1x1 but really enjoyed it. Jason Sudeikis is great here! smile

Spoiler

Did anyone here understand the "My father was called Ms. such-and-such" boss joke? Please explain. big_smile

I love it. Real feel-good show!

Re: Ted Lasso [Comedy, Drama, Sport]

From a big football fan ehhhhhhhh! Not the best show don't even think this is better than BBC's The first team which was mediocre at best.

How many Ted Lasso episodes did you watch? I guess you can't really compare the shows. The First Team only has 6.1/10 @ IMDb and I don't find the trailer that funny.

Re: Ted Lasso [Comedy, Drama, Sport]

Just watch the 4th episode. I'm only making the comparison as their both football comedy  shows. Like by all means First Team wasn't a great comedy but its made me laugh more then Ted Lasso, but maybe that because I'm British.

EDIT: Just watched the trailer on IMDB, really doesn't give the show the justice to be honest. And the more I think about feel like Ted Lasso is bit of a rip off, but I'll be nice and say its a good pastiche.

Haven't finished season 1 yet, but still love to read this:

I still can't believe how few have posted here! smile It's a really good show, whether you're into sports or not.

Good news:

“Ted Lasso” has been renewed for a third season at Apple. The news comes ahead of the start of production on Season 2 of the comedy series, which was announced in August.

Yeah, it felt a little cheesy in parts but the "feel good" part kind of made it easier to get past that stuff.

Re: Ted Lasso [Comedy, Drama, Sport]

Great show, definitely want more.

Jason Sudekis won the Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy for Ted Lasso.  Hard to believe this show even made the radar, let alone, won an award.  Very happy for him though, he's so funny in everything he does.

Re: Ted Lasso [Comedy, Drama, Sport]

So far season 2 of Ted Lasso has been fun but predictable, Roy Kent's frank exchange commentating was hilarious and yelling at the soccer girls, also very funny.  The trailer kinda ruined all the good jokes in the first 2 episodes so I'm looking forward to what's next.

lol

Spoiler

Ted:  Back home, if a team was playing poorly, we don't call them unlucky, what do we call them, coach?
Coach:  New York Jets.
Ted:  That's right.

Re: Ted Lasso [Comedy, Drama, Sport]

Not really laugh-out-loud funny but kind of keeping my attention so far.

Sudeikas chipper and upbeat persona clashing with the miserable, hostile, cruel, cynical English race.

The big bad blonde milf team owner is All Woman:

A deadset spunk albeit, from certain angles, and under certain lights, in a slightly X vs Y chromosome blurry way.

Not sure if that's tongue in cheek or not, but we are not all like that.  But I am.  smile

The Original Ted Lasso idea - By Jason Sudeikis

Ted Lasso — Season 3 Official Trailer | Apple TV+

So far so funny.  Jamie broke character when Roy went off about Trent Crim; that they left it in made it even funnier.

@All Next Ep Brits, this show is saying the following joke wouldn't land in the UK:

"I'm more corny than Kevin Costner's outfield."

Would Brits really not get that Field of Dreams joke?  To me, the joke was funnier than the fact that it didn't land.

A few would, but it's not such a part of our culture that it seems to be in the US.  Many people here would have heard of "if you build it they will come" but probably not where the reference comes from.

So it's a bit of stretch that a whole room wouldn't get it, right?

3x6 - Heartwarming. One of the best episodes of TV this year.

Me too, they're besties now:

...but it leaves Keeley's story feeling quite tangent, kinda like, "why is this in this show?"

Re: Ted Lasso [Comedy, Drama, Sport]

I've enjoyed the show, but then I despise football so it's not spoiling any pre conceived bias for me.

I don't want this show to end... dangit!?!
