Inspired by the Manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

I wasn't so sure after reading the description, but the trailer... damn! Watch it! smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An0bZpuhiBE

Looks like the budget was big enough for good special effects. I really enjoyed watching it, the joke at https://youtu.be/An0bZpuhiBE?t=128 was fun too. big_smile

And I like this YouTube comment:

Others studio: "This Coronavirus caught us off guard. We were really unprepared. We really are struggling to get new content for our viewers"

Netflix: "So where was I? Oh yeah, then I started blasting them with new content. Pow, pow and then another pow"

Actually just watched it right before noticing this thread.
Looks pretty good so far.

Wow! I'm actually surprised how much I've enjoyed 1x1! smile Not perfect, but great. Highly recommended, I hope the remaining episodes are as good.

Complete opposite for me.  The inner-monologue thing is really annoying.  I turned it off after 15-20 minutes.
Really bad.  I had hopes too as the trailer looked good.

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

I always find it fascinating how something I've enjoyed can be watched in a polar-opposite way. cool

Inner monologue is a great tool for enhancing or ruining ones (quality of) life, and I loved how it's done here. Especially after around 10 minutes, when she leaves the building. big_smile

Lots of yapping, needed way more demon killing - still good though. End got interesting.

exactly, but the finale for me fell flat on it's face in terms of hype for season 2

I've watched 3 episodes so far and each one has been better than the previous one

Yep, the end was meh. Overall not bad.

Gotta give it at least 2 episodes, it takes its time to get started. The monologue thing feels a bit tacked-on, especially at first, but often also helps giving context to scenes.

Escalating the stakes way too quickly, working against most of what was previously established with way too many plot twists and ending on an entirely random-timed cliffhanger. Not good that, still good enough I guess.

Overall a nice watch so far, hoping they renew it. Made good use of its Spain-based setting without overindulging in it.

Re: Warrior Nun [Action, Fantasy, Horror/Supernatural]

It took me till ep. 1x2 to figure out why she looked so familiar, and today I see this on IMDB:

So it's not just me... cool

Alicia Vikander and Alba Baptista also seem to have a somewhat similar personality, based on the total of two interviews that I watched on YouTube. wink

By the way: the show is less great than I had hoped, but totally worth watching.

I did the same.  I was like, "Right, next one..  Erm.. what.  Eh?  They left it there... no way!"

Quite a decent show, but nowhere near as action-packed as the trailer made it look.  And yes, know that's the trailer's job, but this one took that to a new level.  I'll watch season 2 though, for sure.

2020.  Meh.

Yeah, crazy way to end a season!

I agree. Sadly, trailer editing has become so good that I feel some are over-promising more than say 10 years ago. I had expected more action as well.

Re: Warrior Nun [Action, Fantasy, Horror/Supernatural]

another version of Motherland:Fort Salem? fighting nuns v fighting witches. Buffy does Catholic ( in every generation one is  chosen )?

I am up to esp 3. Not toooooo bad.

wow now  finished the whole 1st season and I change my mind a really good series with some  great internal places and also external locations. And great  turn around plot expectations, bad guys the good guys and vice versa.  Cant wait for season 2. I hope there is one. Much better than Motherland.

I do think they should have chosen a better title than "Warrior Nun" which suggests the silly Fort Salem thing but for nuns.

Unlike  you other guys I dont feel there is a missing eps. Things just matured very quickly, sort of left you breathless, gasping for air. The last eps was like the Crisis on Infinte Earths for the Arrowverse that rewrote the world and the story parameters. ( some thing like the volte face in The life of Brian with that space ship being chased scene)  There was enough action in my mind. The question in my mind now what really is the other side?

The only thing I wonder about now that the cat is out of the bag can we really be surprised; maybe it should have been a one seasoner?

Re: Warrior Nun [Action, Fantasy, Horror/Supernatural]

There is a serious side to this show?

Spoiler

One of the things  I like about the show is the deconstruction of religious beliefs - so compare the religious " history" story how the "halo" came here with Ava's vision on touching Adriel and also Lillith's outburst at the end he is just a common thief - so the "monster from hell" is just some thing sent to retrieve stolen property ( why Lilith was sent back collateral damage?) not to steal a heavenly property  and take to hell?. The whole catholic story is false - they should just return the halo? I hope  season 2 doesn't betray this theme and go religious. Though I do wonder what the portal is the details of whichAdriel has been feeding to that kid , why he wants it. does he want to return to the other side and why. And what is the pit where the ghosts are?

Alba Baptista as Ava performance is  a real gem. as are the other four nuns - Shotgun Mary, Lilith, Beatrice and Camillia ( her singing). And the drama  speeds things along

I spent the first few episodes convinced Sister Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young) was actually The Defenders' Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick).

Re: Warrior Nun [Action, Fantasy, Horror/Supernatural]

some of you lot for doubles must be blind. other than good looking very little in common.

Spoiler

one scene I liked was when Durrette sauntered into the pope room to get his new gear and seemed to smirk, then look around to see if the others had noticed. Poor guy what is he going to do with Adriel

Great Season 2 is on November 10. I was wondering if this would get cancelled as it has been such a long time.

NICE... I'd almost forget this show.
