Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

I'm certainly enjoying it, just have the season finale to watch in the next few days.

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

I watched it all and thought it was ok, despite so much of the science was complete nonsense.  One of the silly things that stood out for me the most was how quickly they moved from the front of the train and back again so quickly.  1001 carriages?  Yeah, right!

2020.  Meh.

Yes! Or the train acceleration seen in the final episode. Or asking the viewer to believe that the railway switch is just going to work in such extreme cold with zero maintenance, when in reality fire is being used against ice or they use stuff like jet-engine-powered snow blowers to remove ice and snow from tracks and switching areas! (/rant)

Still, it's a good show. cool

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

Worst garbage i've seen in a long time, just the concept is impossible to get behind. The World most brilliant scientists conclude that a train with no track maintenance and avalanches everywhere was the last hope of humanity? Why not design a spaceship with the same eternal engine? They had the technology to cool off an entire planet, so a big spaceship shouldn't be that hard to make.

And why is it that they let the invaders live? It is not explained in the first 3 episodes why they are essential? If they just killed them off, they would have no problems with riots and the like. Meh... Not for me i guess.

Last time I checked perpetual motion is impossible because of the laws of the physics, so, if engine is a fairy tale, why bother to check science for the rest? big_smile

Also if you have a perpetual engine, idea to use it on a train itself is stupid, just produce heat and live somewhere in a cave smile

I watched it just for the drama, they took a shitty movie and made an ok tv series, will watch season 2 as well.

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

I watched the film some time ago, and while the first half was 'ok' it rapidly degenrated after that. I didn't see anything in the trailer for this to change my mind!

Maybe it's just not for you. smile

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

i watched the film fairly recently but i've only just started with the TV series...... i actually like the series more than the film and whilst the whole premise is flawed (end of the world, so lets get on a train) it is intriguing

i'm only on epi 5 now but i've seen that season 2 is coming soon so i'll keep watching and suspend my beliefs a bit more smile

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

Cool... Let us know how you liked it after you finished the season. smile

i liked it....i know the whole walking through the same 4 carriages, and travelling from front to back in 2 minutes (even though it is 10 miles long) is annoying but i still liked it

nice setup to next season too, i will keep watching!

Yeah, I'm curious how they continue from that season finale ... smile

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

S02 looks promising

39

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

Indeed. Lots of interesting new plot lines.

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

I just watched Season 2 Episode 8

Spoiler

and the plot holes are infuriatingly frustrating. Wilford was out there alone, and they all knew the horrible things to come at his command, and yet not one thought to bash his head into a bulkhead!? What the fricking frick !?

He's one man, kill him to save a big chunk of what's left of humanity, it's not a stretch to go there even for the totally unviolent.

Spoiler

Snowpiercer is basically build on plot holes

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

Watched 2x10, the season finale. Ending with a major cliffhanger isn't perfect (for me), but at least the episode was intense. smile

Spoiler

The aquarium car imploding itself off the rails though... without causing any damage to the rails or other cars... requires suspension of disbelief on a whole new level! big_smile

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

Wow, more changes than I had expected:

Archie Panjabi, cool

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

ah worth a look. what a strange idea. I assume the track is a circular run.

46

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

I think this season will be very good

Yes, 3x1 did not disappoint! smile

Re: Snowpiercer [Drama, Action, Sci-Fi]

Yep, how you can tell that show is good - when a 45 min episode ends and you are like, what, already?

It's a sci-fi, a train with a magical engine goes around the world, physics holes more than you can count, but with squinted eyes a good survival after world has ended entertainment with a great cast.

Epic hole is S03E01:

Spoiler

By what telepathy they decided to carry with them that 30+ kg tripod with an electrical winch big_smile

There might be a hole, but not that one IMHO...

Spoiler

They saw from the train that he had suddenly vanished, so it's a good assumption that he fell into a hole. Thus, bring equipment! smile

My issue (and IIRC I said this before): for some reason, snow never accumulates enough anywhere on the planet to stop Snowpiercer, but here it was enough snow to make the top of the building become ground-level... and not even that far away from the tracks. The only logical explanation: that building was built mostly underground - but that doesn't seem that logical either... Doesn't matter, I can live with the plot holes. smile
