Topic: Mythic Quest
https://next-episode.net/mythic-quest-ravens-banquet
Mythic Quest is centered on the creative director at a video game development studio. The show follows a team of video game developers as they navigate the challenges of running a popular video game.
I just finished Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, created by It’s Always Sunny’s Rob McElhenney, Megan Ganz, and David Hornsby and I've got to hand it to Apple TV+ because, once again, they've made an incredibly compelling series! And I freakin' loved Episode 5 (A Dark Quiet Death) which was a one-off story featuring Jake Johnson & Cristin Milioti ▼Spoiler as gaming nerd couple who create the gritty horror game they’ve always wanted to see. The 'flashback' story follows the couple's relationship for a decade as the balance between their art and commerce breaks down. The episode doesn't even include any of the principle Mythic Quest cast... well, at least until Rob McElhenney shows up in the end. Seriously more people should be talking about this series, which seems like it's already been 'green lit' for a second season

I've moved your post, enhanced it with additional info and added this post: https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopi … 99#p164199 It's a funny show, I've watched 1x1 and 1x2 so far. Not an awesome show, but good.

Keep watching it wasn't until Ep 3 or 4 that I was really into it and then 5 comes around and I was like WHA-?! I don't know about you but, unless I'm totally turned off by a show, I give a new series a 4 Episode Test. If by the 4th, if I'm not into it I usually drop it. Though I do admit I've watched some series well after it has failed that test... miserably *cough* RESISTANCE *cough*

Just watched 1x5. You guys were not kidding! It was probably the most divergent episode of all TV shows ever... at least I don't recall another episode that had as little to do with the main cast as this one.

Yes, sentient. And there's another special episode out! Mythic Quest crew return to offices and co-workers following the coronavirus pandemic for their annual Everlight party.

Another great episode! ▼Spoiler They got Anthony Hopkins to do a voice over, and the fantasy scene was really well done, better than alot of the actual fantasy TV shows I watch.
2020. Meh.

Re: Mythic Quest
Yeah this is very much my kinda show. I used to be a big gamer, still a bit for story driven games, so loved that they actually got Ashly Burch to be in this. And making her the lowest rank in the company. It's a half hour comedy that I wouldn't just have on in the background

Re: Mythic Quest
S02E06 Such a good episode. Overall great but my favourite part is late on, the bit where he discoveres the ▼Spoiler Pong in the window and then talks about the future of video games. "these paltry, linear narratives" So well done, love it.

Re: Mythic Quest
When Hollywood produces really good stuff like this last episode once in a while, you wonder why they usually just make garbage. I think this show generally has turned into that sort of garbage last seasons, first was better. But this last episode was really good, just as that special one they had last season. This more classical style of writing is soo superior to the modern styles, combined with everybody also putting some actual acting work in it and putting some effort in everything else as well. Costumes, sets, camera, sound and stuff. Absolutely professional and a joy to watch. The modern style, where basically everything of that is gone except for writing a script, a script that usually sucks and just consists of people being mean, egotistical and bickering with each other sprinkled with leftist politics. They are not acting much, just basically being themselves, and wear regular clothes and the sets are like any modern area in any building. Modern style tv makes you forget how talented most people in Hollywood really are, because the modern style does not want or let them use their talents at all. They can write, they can act, they can usually also sing and dance. They have imagination. It is a pleasure when they show us this.

What the hell are you watching? There are so many good "modern" shows out there.

Re: Mythic Quest
Hated the season 2 finale. Why only 9 episodes? Why no story arc for the season? A real let down. I blame covid.

I've watched the first 3 and to say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. What a let down this season has been for me so far. If it's like this the whole season I'll be dropping it. How the mighty have fallen.

It's a shame, as I really used to look forward to every episode. It used to have alot of heart and soul, way more than more of the other shows I watch. The episode during covid was excellent, so moving... for a show about a computer game company for god's sake! Let's hope we see a return to form soon.

Yes, that bonus episode was wonderful! And yes, after watching 3x3 I agree that this season has a different feel, but I still like it. Loved the Elizabeth Holmes reference in 3x2!
