Topic: Messiah
https://next-episode.net/messiah Watchlists: 333
Messiah chronicles the modern world's reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East and seems to be performing miracles.
I was surprised... the trailer looks really good!

Re: Messiah
Wow, what a show! Clearly not for everyone*, but I love it. I've watched 1x1, it's one of the best episodes I've watched in the last few years. *To give you an idea of how controversial it is: even before the show's release, the trailer got 24,000 upvotes and 40,000 downvotes, with many commentators fearing the Antichrist. (Wow.) From reviews over at IMDb:
So far it hasn't disappointed. For those that get their knickers in a twist, over politics, religion, and the like. Switch it off and go back under your bubble wrap. Controversy is not bad, nor is free speech last time I checked...
Rating of 5.4 withing 1 Hour Of The Release Haters Gonna Hate ! People are just down-rating this series because of their religious believes, hate that
And still the show managed to climb to a 7.5 IMDb rating by now. I highly recommend this.

I'm looking forward to checking it out. I will let you know this weekend, after I've had a chance to take in a couple episodes...

Less than a day later it had climbed to 7.6, and now it's at 7.8!

Re: Messiah
The "Watchlists" number has increased to 1221 but no reviews in the forum? Weird... lighton wrote:lighton wrote:Rating of 5.4 withing 1 Hour Of The Release

Yesterday it reached 7.9, today 8.0.

Re: Messiah
I finished the series yesterday. A really interesting plot that kept me changing my mind about the lead character. A bit slow in places BUT overall I enjoyed it and it is thought provoking.

You're welcome. It was a great show, but after now watching the last episode I really hope that they'll do a season 2! The last episode was less intense than previous episodes. It felt like a preparation for more, not like they wanted to end the show.

Yeah, most unfortunate. I haven't even started it yet, but I won't let this recent development stop me.

Re: Messiah
Here's some more info... According to Deadline, one of the reasons for the cancellation may be down to the international nature of the show. The publication reported that given the series is filmed all over the world with an international cast, it may be difficult to produce after the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.

How long are they expecting this little outbreak to last? Six months or more? because that would be only valid reason to blame it on the flu. Sounds more like someone pussyed out.

The two sources above also mention other reasons behind the cancellation in addition to the pandemic, but just about every other source seems to be pointing towards the outbreak. It's pretty obvious that Netflix doesn't want anything more to do with the show (one and done), and could have just easily delayed producing the second season until further notice.
