I found it to be a pretentious student film with a comic book skin. It was like a whole series made from the tiresome episode of seemingly every show where the lead is stuck in their own mind or hallucinating dead characters, etc. Every bad Hollywood trope meant to signify drug use or mental illness or shortcut to 'character development' by having the character confront themselves is on full display here. To be fair, the source material was pretty much all awful as well. I found it so excruciating and pretentious that it made me actually wonder whether I'd missed something in liking Fargo so much. I did like the cast and what they did with applying dream logic to the time setting, making it fluid and indeterminate through collected anachronisms, though.

FX describes Farouk as "a villain with a thousand faces…" They also confirmed that season two will premiere sometime in early 2018; this time with a 10-episode order. As for David's biological father, here's an interesting take from the showrunners on Den of Geek...

As for the big question about David's biological father, well, "I think that’s something we’re definitely going to approach,” Hawley said. “It’s a creative conversation, but it’s also a sort of corporate conversation, you know, on some level, in terms of the movie studio and their relationship to the X-Men and the characters they want in the movies and want to protect potentially. And were we to want to have Professor X on the show, or even Patrick Stewart on the show, James McAvoy or one of those actors, is a conversation both with the actor and with the studio. So, I don’t know, I haven’t really dived into that quandary yet, but certainly I need to start thinking about it.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsmTReftEt8
