Yeah you are right that he deserves happiness but apparently the writers don't know how to. Most of his behavior is explained by selfishness, him thinking about someone else would totally be unrealistic. I agree that he should evolve but the writers don't seem to want to.

I enjoyed the harsh and stern House in this episode - and yes, he is much more fun like this. He was suppressed with Cuddy, but I also think that was him changing for her. Which is why I think her dumping him was so incredibly selfish. Wilson pretty much nailed it in this episode when he said that she wanted him not to change and then dumped him when he didn't change enough. It was a dick move on her part.

I wanted House to be happy, because I think he deserves some happiness and also because that was the first sign of any character development on his part. As much as you might argue that the show isn't about him, going seven years without any character development whatsoever is a travesty. (The show masked this by dumping all his character development into pre-TV show times ("Three Stories") and making his TV-show character a result of that traumatic event.)

Having said that I agree that most of the season so far has been weak and I hope we get some good episodes with an angry, vengeful, and smart House.

He atleast didn't act so surpressed like he did when he was with Cuddy. House's character isn't capable of supporting a relationship, I found it a farce they did it anyway.
