Well. I was never a fan of X-files, but I think the idea of trying to replace Duchovny is silly.

I'm kinda surprised people voted for joshua malina replacing Rob Lowe on West Wing...
I thought he did an excellent job, I also kind of like how Sorkin likes to recycle his actors from his previous endeavor in the white house, in this case most of the cast from the "American President" movie.

There were a lot of shows that I have not seen, in this poll... voted for X-files...
I never had a problem with Browder on Sg-1...

This. SG-1 has just never been the same ever since.
I thought about voting for X-Files as well but let's face it, X-Files had sunk long before Duchovny left the show...

Ben Browder by far. I mean I liked his acting in Farscape but RDH is irreplaceable. 2nd place goes to CSI - this show is a trainwreck for some time now.

It's interesting though that most votes (even mine for "Richard Mylan for Richard Coyle (Coupling)") are based on the genius of the previous actor, not necessarily the lameness of the replacement. Take "Ben Browder for Richard Dean Anderson" - Ben Browder is a fantastic actor, was brilliant in Farscape and I thought he was really good in SG-1 (especially when Claudia Black guest starred and we had the same great on-screen chemistry), but there's just no way he could reach RDA level of awesomeness. RDA was the heart and soul of the show and made it worth watching. Ben Browder just couldn't do that. Just like nobody could rival the brilliance of Richard Coyle's Jeff. As much as I enjoyed Oliver Morris, he just wasn't a Jeff.

Others are more interesting. For example Spin City: I love that show and I think Charlie Sheen did a marvelous job, but right around the time he replaced Michael J. Fox the show kind-of jumped the shark and together with him changing the way the office worked and felt it was just too much. Duchovny and X-Files is a very similar story, only it combines jumping the shark some seasons prior with him being the heart of the show.

I loved spin city pre charlie sheen. Fox and the others had really good thing going and I would have prefered a
end to the series. But someone has the milk the cow right?

I can't believe people chose Ben Browder for Richard Dean Anderson , He was ok , definitely not the worst choice , I chose Robert Patrick for David Duchovny , David was a much more important piece in X Files to be replaced.

Didn't know quite a few of them so not in a position to pass judgement. Of those I did know two jumped out at me so I chose Ben Browder replacing RDA. My second choice was Patrick for Duchovny.

i even don't have seen yet sg episodes where anderson is replaced, but still you can't replace macgyver with no one.

btw, I just saw 5x01 of NewsRadio today... sad episode.
