the show felt like it was out of sync, could've been good but held itself back

Assuming it gets a second season, it may clarify itself.

7.5/10 if it gets a second season.
6.5/10 if it doesn't (too much unresolved).

Pretty clear the one storyline we got is all were going to get.  But it is growing on me in a good way.

I think her Talamasca character is English. I figured that she was around and must have hung out with real British actors (and other Brits), so I'd think - her being an actor - she'd have picked up how to do a poshy English accent. Hers sort of fades in and out. However, I will say that might be planned seeing as how her character has been in the US for quite some time, I guess.

I didn't get the impression "Helen" was English, especially as she's leader of the New York motherhouse.

But I guess since it's an original work (and I assume an original character, too), anyone's guess is as good as any other at this stage! Maybe we'll get more back story for her in time, that'll clear her origins up.

Indeed some witches.  A vampire.  The story deepens.  True motives revealed.  Tensions build.

Yeah, we have questions and at one point we found ourselves playing "spot the vampire".

I do hope we see more vampires, maybe a demon or a ghost and definitely some witches.  Given that S1 is only 6 episodes, I am fearing that the one storyline we have seen maybe the only one.  Hope I am proved wrong.

On 2nd watch, I will admit its probably a 7/10 show for me, rather than 7.5/10 that I was rounding up to a 8/10 previously.

This kind of plot works as a silly action comedy, but not as a serious drama series.

I think you have thought this through a lot more than the writers probably have .
